About
Our one-of-a-kind Kauai activities include tubing down an old sugar plantation irrigation system, through open canals and several tunnels hand-dug circa 1870. It also includes soaring through the air on our stunning Zipline course, traversing the side of a mountain down to a lush bamboo grove. Through it all you will learn about our island’s history, culture and natural environment. Come join us and take home memories for a lifetime!

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a great time with the tubing ride in Kauai. My wife and I will definitely come back next time we are on the island for another tubing adventure. The tour guides were very entertaining and had us laughing the whole trip.

We did a lot of big adventures during this trip (helicopter, catamaran, hiking) so this was a nice easier activity that required no planning - just a reservation. Fun afternoon float/lunch. Nice t-shirts and option to purchase photos as well.

Worth the time!! It was a blast. Didn't have a clue what to expect, so it was exciting fir me to say the least. The water is "REFRESHING" to say the least. Only draw back for me was the photo shots. So many opportunities for additional captures.

We had T as our tour guide and I can't say enough good things about her. She explained every step of the tour to us, we were on time, safe and she made it fun for the group. I would definitely recommend this trip. There were kids there as well as adults and the tunnels were fantastic.

This adventure was easy to book. This was our second time tubing and enjoyed it even more than the first. Great guides and safety of the group was ever present. Don’t miss this when visiting Kauai.

So much fun, we loved our tour guide Bryce! The views were amazing, and we loved the tunnels. The water was refreshing too. Great for the whole family.

My husband and I frequent Hawaii but have never been on Kauai, we found out about this place from looking up and reading the reviews just as you may be doing now. We thought ooh cool! And boy was it cool! Our tour guide was Noah, he had some helpful information as he informed us he was a born and raised local guy. We tried a lot of the places he recommended and appreciated it because it was ono!
Thank you so much for such a fun time he and the crew were so funny and fun! The lunch consisted of a make your own crescent sandwich and cookie. Was filling and good! Thank you Backcountry Adventures!

We had a great time on this tubing adventure. Our guide Patrick was very knowledgeable and entertaining. All the guides were fabulous and fun. Tubing through the caves was a blast. The tour supplies the helmets and gloves so all we needed were water shoes. The lunch provided after the tube ride was very good. I would highly recommend this activity as a must do while in Kauai.

Where do you keep your wallet and keys while tubing?

I would bring a small backpack to put your stuff in. You will get wet, so you may want to bring a towel too. There is a bin to put your belongings in and they have someone there to watch the bins while you are tubing.

Why are all the early day times booked? Is the 1:30-2:30 time slot not preferred for some reason? Is it the lunch? If we book at 2 can we just skip the lunch and leave early…we have a 6 pm dinner booked. Thanks ;)

If flying to Kauai for the day to do tubing adventure, is it easy to get a transfer from Lihue Airport. Also, duration of adventure, from check in time to be finished is it 3 hours? Thanks in advance.

As mentioned, Kauai Backcountry is a short 20-30 minute ride form the airport; close to Lihue Airport. The Tubing adventure is about 3 hours, strat to finish, including the intorductiory briefing, transport to the "fields," and your tubing adventure. A snack lunch is served at the conclusion. If you're flying in and out the same day, I'd plan for a MINIMUM of 5-6 hours between arrival and departure.
Is there an age/height requirement for the tubing and zip lining?

They say there's a weight limit of 300 lbs for the tubing and that anyone outside that won't be able to participate. I'm a hiker and just a big guy in general, so I'm outside that range, but had no problem problem whatsoever. They were great and it was an absolute blast. Highly recommended. I think the regulation is more about mobility and overall fitness/safety than a hard and fast cut off.

How long does it take to complete this tubing adventure? 1 hour? It looks fun though.

It's a couple hours, I think about 3. It's a 30 minute drive to and from the checkin. Our tour guide, Lucky, filled that with awesome info and jokes. We stopped briefly for a photo op against Mt Wailali There's quick safety briefing when you get to the river. The river portion takes about an hour or so (best hour of your day) and then there's a stop afterwards for lunch.
Worth every penny. Ask for Lucky. He's amazing.
Is it safe to ride a tub behind a boat 3 months pregnant. I did yesterday and now I'm cramping a little bit 😩

The canals would be totally safe I believe. I'd check with a doctor about the cramping.

Kauai tubing sounds super fun, however i’m wondering if my little claustrophobia would be an issue. Can anyone shed light how many tunnels or how long the tunnels are? I know I would be fine in short tunnels , but Wondering about if there’s any real long dark ones that would make me more anxious vs having fun...going in April,,,TIA

I thought I would have problems with the tunnels (5) but No. Plenty of space and my concentration was on all the laughter. The last tunnel, our guide Ipo told us would be “no headlamps” but we had a few leave their headlamps on and anyone wanting it to be dark, close your eyes. Great experience and the temp of the water was a non-issue after 6 seconds getting on the tube. What a BLAST!
