Thirty minutes from trail head to picnic area; worth going another 10-15 minutes for additional views. Gradual incline; stop along the trail frequently to take in the view. Yes, can be muddy; better to go if it hasn't been raining for a few days. Limited parking; go early in the day. Just past the hike the road is closed as... More

Stunning walk. We walked to the end of the Moalepe Trail and back ( maybe 9 miles total). The first part before the bridge has amazing views, the second part is easier walking and gentler scenery but still beautiful. The whole walk is outstandingly muddy. Take poles, and walking boots. Me and my husband had trail shoes which were hopeless... More

The trail was quite muddy so pack extra shoes to change into after but it was worth it! The views were amazing and the trail wasn't very steep so a wide range of fitness levels should be able to hike the trail with ease. I would recommend taking a little water with you. The best views were at the picnic... More

We discovered this trail by accident as it doesn't seem to be very well promoted. We only did the first 1.2 mile stretch ascent to the lookout in drizzly weather. It was quite muddy in spots but the ascent was not too bad for novice hikers. Take water. The view is spectacular and worth the red mud.

The hike is a gradual climb, only 450 ft elevation gain until the picnic tables. There are nice views all along the way and when you reach the picnic area you also see the mountains on the other side. Like the other reviews say, it is recommended to continue a little beyond the picnic area to see the valley on... More

I am always surprised that people who are not fit or who do not have proper gear, either rain or shoes, are either disappointed or annoyed. This is a very easy 800 foot total elevation gain hike, which is easy to moderate. Yes it is very muddy in places. In addition, if you walk past the picnic benches, which is... More

Great hike and I didn't even do the crazy ledge part. Totally worth it especially when it's not the rainy season...then it gets kind of dangerous.

First 1/2 mile was pretty muddy but then it was drier. If it was dry, this hike would be pretty easy. It wasn't hard today either and I think probably at its most difficult would be easy-moderate. The views were nice but it wasn't very clear today. Still it was reminiscent of scenes from Jurassic Park. The trail continues 3/4... More

We woke up early this morning to do the hike before the sun got too strong. We are both really inexperienced hikers who are out of shape and overweight, and we had no problem at all doing this trail! The fallen tree mentioned in several other reviews has since been cleared. We ran into some locals along the way who... More
