We spent an hour here, a great rainy day diversion. Lots of ancient artifacts and plenty of long write ups about life as an ancient Hawiian. There is a second building with displays from after first contact with Europeans that is very interesting. I would have liked a little more context on some of the displays, but the staff are... The first part of this museum is dedicated to the early history of Hawaii and contains many beautiful artifacts. Janet was our tour guide and she was very knowledgeable about the history and culture of Kauai. It made it that much more interesting. The second half of the museum is kind of a mish mosh of WWII, movies filmed in... More

If you like Hawaiian history you will enjoy this museum. If you are not a history fan you will likely be confused because it is not well organized - not worth the $15 admission price.

Very organized, lots of interesting and neat artifacts. The museum helped me to understand and mold a picture of the history of Kauai. I think it is a must see. Very cool giftshop too. The locals who work here are very passionate about the museum, which I loved. They were also very welcoming and helpful. There was a film they... More

I am not a huge 'history buff', and normally this type of museum is not my thing. But I really did enjoy this one! It appeared to be small from the outside, but it housed an enormous quantity of items - and every section had aspects that were interesting, relevant, and unique. The writing in the posters/signs was well done.... More

To get the benefit of this museum, you really have to take the time to read the placards with the information about the displays. If you are interested in history it is worth making the stop here.

We enjoyed our stop here. Allow time to read multiple placards with historical facts. This is a perfect stop after seeing Bishop museum and the 'Iolani Palace in Honolulu.

I'm sometimes bored at museums, but this one was very interesting. The volunteer who greeted us was so knowledgeable and accommodating. We chose to forego the tour as it had already begun, but everything is well labeled and documented. Do not miss the movie, it was fascinating. Its set in a small room with great a/c, to boot!
