This trail is easy but still in muddy Kauai. If it rained, it will be slick and many tree roots are exposed. It is not "easy" such as a paved board walk. but for the seasoned hiker, easy. Wide, safe trail. The first bit follows a dirt road you could drive with a 4WD ONLY, not a rental car. Then... More

The trailhead is pretty hidden and there aren't any large signs stating "Canyon Trail" so here you go: Shortly past the Pu'u Hinahina lookout you will are a large sign on the right side of the road "Kok'e State Park" and the trail is on the right side of the sign. The hike is awesome and is worth the view... More

Wow - be prepared for some super sketchy footing. If you feel you don't have average or above fitness, you'll likely find yourself quite frustrated. It's not a hard, strenuous hike, it's just really, really slippery. It's not even that long - took us about a hour - maybe more to go to the waterfalls. The stop just before that... More

The hike on the canyon trail was pretty quick -- we entered at Halemanu Road and 550. The view at the clearing was beautiful and worth the effort, but it was pretty crowded. The loose dirt on hard ground made parts slippery, notably a short segment that takes you from the clearing to the top of the falls was pretty... More

This trail was unbelievable. The hike up to the top is not bad. The view at the top is spectacular. When you get to the top I would head left to see the arch rock. After that I would turn around and go back. The top of the waterfall was not worth the energy expended to see it. The hike... More

All i can say is :go, go, go! I how weather helps you, as can become foggy. And don't forget, you are on most wet place on the planet. Dress accordingly, moat of the times weather will change to 180° in less than 1 hour.

The hikes in Kokee State Park are not for the faint of heart. Due to the high rainfall levels on the island, the mountain trails are always wet. The red mud is VERY slippery - and the red colour DOES NOT come out! However, your efforts and energy required to walk on any of the trials is rewarded with spectacular... More

There are two ways to get to this trail head depending on whether or not you have a 4x4 vehicle. If you don't, then you need to start at the rear of the parking lot at the Puuhinahina lookout and spend an extra 20 minutes hiking down into the canyon to reach the start of the trail. If you do...
