About
The nonprofit Lānaʻi Culture & Heritage Center was founded in 2007 to protect, preserve and perpetuate the culture and history of the island. There is no other entity completely devoted to this endeavor. Educational opportunities and events are offered year round. The museum opens for special events. As a 501c3 nonprofit, all of its initiatives to support Lānaʻi's legacy, including the protection of its archival collections that includes thousands of artifacts, are funded by friends like you.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We highly recommend all visitors and community members to take the time to go to this most unique museum. Very informative, sharing lots of history, not only unique to Lana'i but also the entire state of Hawai'i. You will learn a lot. The community of Lana'i can be very proud their history will continue on and shared with future generations. We hope eventually, with community and visitor support, funds can be raised for a new center to be built in a more central location within Dole Park, making the center more visible to ALL. Thank you for letting us know about this beautiful Lana'i Culture & Heritage Center, it was the highlight of our visit to Lana'i.

The price is right: Free. It's well laid out and full of history about Lanai along with artifacts. A timeline of the island runs around the top wall from room to room. Lots of information and very professionally presented. A bit hard to find, so ask for directions as there is minimal signage on the street.

Wonderful museum/heritage center. Very informative, great history and wonderful staff. (Was it Simon? Sorry I didn't write down his name but he was great!). There were certain sites that we tried to find on our own, such as the Petrogylphs at Shipwreck Beach. Turns out I was RIGHT there but didn't go up far enough after much searching. Had I gone here first I would've found what I was looking for.
Overall, a MUST for your visit to Lana'i
PS: They are nonprofit, so please leave a donation :)

This is a gem. Kepa (sp?) and his beautiful wife opened this non-profit heritage center in January. They are both extremely passionate about the exhibits and history that is displayed here. They love to answer questions. Kepa worked in the pineapple fields and his wife worked in the canning operation - their stories are fascinating. Ask about pineapple burns!!!! Don't get caught up in the sun, golf, and relaxation of Lanai without making a stop at the Heritage Center!!! Also, don't miss the pineapple plants that line the walkway to the center.

The Lanai Culture and Heritage Center was a nice brief stop in Lanai City. There were displays and pictures illustrating the commerce of the island, its population, and its history. The island has been largely owned by corporations and individuals since the 1800's and the history is captured chronologically around the top of the walls with text and pictures. The island used to produce the largest pineapple crop in the world but that industry (Dole) has left for world areas that have a cheaper labor supply.

Thank you for the cultural presentation. The docent was knowledgeable and there were very many traditional artifacts on display. They are keeping the history of this small and cozy island alive. It is situated on the main square, which is an impressive park lined with Cook pines. It’s low-key, just like the island.

Wandered thru the Cultural Center, first admiring the planted pineapple on the walk in. Excellent explanation of the early Hawaiians and subsequent settlements (Mormon, to ranching to pineapples). Friendly docents warmly greeted us, answered questions and pointed out interesting facts. The island ecosystem still recovering from ranching and farming. A definite first stop

I very much enjoyed the Lanai Culture & Heritage Center as a museum of island history along with items available for purchase to study in more detail later. The people were very kind and knowledgeable.
