Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Amazing place but lost wedding ring!!

If you end up going to the Venus Pool (highly recommend), have snorkel gear and want an adventure, you can look for a lost ring. I lost my ring cliff jumping. It was off of the regular spot. It's a platinum ring with two lines circling it. I know it's a long shot, but if you find it, you would be a life saver!

Also, keep in mind there is a danger of flash floods, as other reviewers have mentioned.

Although this is a well known stop on the Hana road, it isn’t crowded, especially in the morning. Most folks, at this point in the journey, are in a hurry to get to Kipahalu, and can’t spare the detour. The pool itself is large, and the cliff is just high enough to keep some would be daredevils out of your way. It’s gorgeous, green, and right next to the ocean, a fantasy swimming hole. Please be very observant of all parking rules, as stated by guidebooks and locals. You will get ticketed otherwise. Don’t miss this place...it’s pure Maui wowie.

First let me say, whether you choose to stop here or not, please ensure you respect the locals when in Hana. My family and I were lucky enough to live in Maui several years ago, and while we certainly weren't locals or natives to this majestic island, we tried hard not to disrespect the land or the people. Keep in mind, if you are not a native, you are basically walking into someone else's property without their permission. With all that said, the access and parking are challenging and reviews are all over the place about if it's ok to visit and swim here. Again, this is a swimming hole for the locals, so please be sure to show respect if you stop. Also, while beautiful, this stop has potential to turn deadly in a matter of minutes with a flash flood. I will not say whether you should stop or not as I do not feel it's my place since I am not a native, but I do know for a fact some of the locals are growing weary of the traffic and seemingly lackadaisical attitude of visitors just making themselves at home.

Waioka pond is not accessible to the public. One has to trespass across privately held lands to access the pond. Additionally, the pond is at the end of a flash flood zone. This is not a place public should be visiting, as it can quickly turn deadly. Only residents/locals who understand the weather signs should visit this pool.

Please don't go into the water at the Venus pools. Flash floods can happen in less that a minute. You will not have time to reach safety and will most likely die. The day can be sunny without any clouds in sight when a flash flood hits. Even if you do survive the pools there is a very good chance your car will be broken into or towed from the street. It is a beautiful place to see and photograph. If you want to swim in some pools and waterfalls there are several much safer options out there.

This place is totally off the grid and can be tricky to find, but once you do, you'll be glad you didn't miss this hidden gem! Drive along the Hana highway and pull over close to the mile marker 48 (just a few minutes from the town of Hana). The entrance will be either immediately before or immediately after a little one lane bridge, depending on which side of the highway you're coming from. By the ranch, you'll see an area where about 6 cars can fit, so park here.

A lot of people think that it is impossible to get here because you have to cross a private fence and walk along private ranch land, however that's not the case any longer! Hana Ranch has finally allowed tourists to climb through a hole in their fence (it's not fully open because they want to keep their cattle in) and walk along the path to the Venus Pool. Note that there is a sign that the owners of the ranch assume no liability in case you get injured - fair enough. It's a short walk, less than 5 minutes.

Once you get into the fence, you'll walk on flat ranch land for a few minutes and will come to an odd structure, which is actually an old clay oven. From there, you'll see the trail descend down a short but steep hill, and voila, you're here. The scenery that will open before you will be breathtaking and well worth the search. The pond is protected from the ocean, yet it's right next to the crashing waves, and there is a jagged rock that separates the calm pond from the raging ocean nearby. If you come here in the morning or late afternoon, you'll likely be the only one here. This place is not popular, but is well known amongst the locals, so when I visited, there were 4 Hawaiian couples enjoying their lunch break and having a beer.

There are plenty of great cliff jumping opportunities here too, and the water is deep enough and clear enough that you can see no obtrusions. The locals tend to be more ballsy and jump from really high up, but there are a number of short and medium take off points for the less courageous and less experienced.

You can swim across the pond to a little pebble beach and explore the tiny cave that's carved into the rock face. Also, locals and tourists alike wrap rocks into palm leaves and stuff them into the jagged cliff, presumably for good luck.

This can be an incredibly serene and romantic place, especially if you're here by yourself, so come check out this little known corner of awesome beauty that will undoubtedly be missed by most.

We are staying in a rental house across the road from Venus Pool now, 12.28.18, watching a flatbed tow truck take away visitors’ cars while they swim at Venus Pools. Why am I sitting here instead of at the beach? Because my husband stepped off a ledge at Venus Pool last week and suffered a stable fracture of his cervical spine requiring a trip to Maui Memorial ED and is now in neck brace. Visitors to Maui, do not park and swim at Venus Pools. It’s not legal and it’s not safe.

One of the things we loved about Hana was getting off the beaten path! Although this place is obviously known by many, it felt very remote and like a hidden treasure. Half the fun was finding our way to it. I highly recommend using the Shaka Maui app when touring this area for details on how and where to find things.

Parking is on the street on a very narrow shoulder of an already narrow road. There is a self serve fruit and flower "stand" created on a rock wall. This is where the obscure trail starts. You have to shimmy your way between the brick wall and the pasture fence. Had I not seen people coming back from the pool I would've never known where to get started.

You walk through some tall grasses and brush, climb over a cattle gate, then follow a well worn path through a pasture. The trail down to the pool is a bit tricky, so wear good shoes and take your time. Plan to pack out whatever you bring in and bring snorkel gear if you have it. (We didn't have our gear or suits with us and were sad to have missed an opportunity to swim here)

Once at the pool, there is no access to the "beach" area without jumping into the pool, so plan to sit on large boulders. Towels would be super handy, and the less you bring, the better.

Be sure to head further down the pasture path, past an old stone oven, to the tip of the property for stunning vistas. (When returning from the pool, you'd take a right onto the pasture path instead of a left which heads back toward the road)

It PRIVATE PROPERTY. Not a Tourist Attraction. Ppl continue to disobey signs and are having to be rescued for getting hurt or even dying. Please do not put responders in harm's way for your own pleasure.

It's required to answer when did you go and with who. The answer is never and not with anyone because it's PRIVATE PROPERTY.
