The Baldwin Home was built in 1834 and served as the home of a practicing physician, Rev. Dwight Baldwin who is credited for saving the people of Maui, Molokai and Lanai from the scourge of smallpox during the terrible epidemic of 1853. The home itself, its household furniture, aged photographs, artifacts, displays and library present a fascinating picture of the busy Sandwich Isles life as lived by a missionary who was both a physician and a constructive community force.

The original furniture was still in tact. Very informative on the first missionaries and Dr. Baldwin's family. Nice 15 minutes spent.

An interesting place to visit to learn about the history of Lahaina. The house is in excellent condition and touring it gives you a sense of what it was like on the island in the days of early settlement by Europeans.
