We stopped here late in the afternoon to possibly see the big sea turtles. There had to be at least 25 of them on the sand enjoying the warmth of the afternoon sun. It was a great place to stretch your legs after a day trip on the road to Hana. There were lots of surfers also.

There's plenty of parking & facilities. There are usually food trucks & fresh fruit stands as well. Usually surfers & wind surfers. We saw half a dozen green sea turtles resting on the beach.

It is a very picturesque area! Surfers were out riding the waves and having a great time in the warm sun.

This place is world-famous to the pros, and it is really fun for everyone to sit and watch them on the waves from the overlook. Go on a windy day. Which is most days. NOT a good place to learn, though! Go to Kanaha or ask at the surf stores in Kahului.

We stopped here three times during our 7 day Maui vacation. 2 of those there were lots of surfers and the final day a huge swell came in and the wave were vicious. They were probably 20' or more high. No surfing allowed! But, the waves were unbelievable. We then travelled up the Road to Hana about 3-4 miles at... More

Saw a turtle here! It went into the water and swam away! Bye bye turtle! Looks like a lot of surfers like to go here too!

The surf was up the day after we arrived on the island so we went to this park to watch surfers. A bonus is that on one end of the beach, Honu, the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles, emerge from the water to rest and sun themselves on the sand. There were over 40 of them the first day we went,... More

We visited this beach yesterday and it is a gorgeous example of Mother Nature. Great for photos of the beach, water, waves, surfers, and sea turtles. This is not the beach to swim, but still worth a visit. If you're a surfer, you already know this is Nirvana. There is parking, portapotties, a few people selling food, drinks, and Hawaiin... More

Even if you don't surf yourselves, it's fascinating to watch the numerous surfers navigating these wonderful surfs and observe the giant turtles coming into the golden sand for a rest.

Our family is staying at Kapalua so it was over an hour drive to get here, so glad we did! At one end of the beach we saw four green sea turtles, and at the other end, a Hawaiian Monk Seal. So exciting to see these magnificent creatures resting on the beach where they feel safe. The Monk Seal Volunteer... More
