Favorite spot for board and kite surfers. Stop by in the mid to late afternoon and you may see turtles sunning themselves as well as an occasional monk seal. There are usually locals in the parking lot selling their crafts. No lifeguards or food is...More

We spent some time at this beach park after we checked out of our hotel at 11AM and waited to go to the airport for a night flight. Close to the airport and the waves are huge so it is fun to watch the surfers!

My wife wanted to watch surfers and the overlook was great for that. However, she noticed people watching something on the beach and realized they were turtles. We moved to the beach and spent quite a bit of time viewing the sunning sea turtles (21...More

So this beach I never thought of as particularly family friendly because it’s such an amazingly technical surf spot but my friends who live there encouraged us to go and use the entry by the rocks. Do NOT bother the turtles! There’s also a sweet...More

Just went to visit here while staying in Paia, upon arriving the parking lot was very full. We noticed a couple leaving in their vehicle so we waited behind them to take their spot when they pulled out. The woman driving the car was waving...More

We stopped here for a quick picnic before heading to the airport to catch our flight to the mainland. Nice way to wind up our Hawaiian vacation. Loved seeing so many turtles!

You could swim here. There were people snorkeling when we went but you will need to be a pretty strong swimmer.

As many have stated it would seem that dusk (just prior to sunset) seems to be when you are most likely to see turtles in great numbers. However, I think that there are some on the beach at any time during the day.

Delayed answer. The surfing app question has been answered quite well. Surfers are there whenever the wind is blowing, which is all of the time. This is one of the VERY best wind surfing beaches in the world. The greatest... More
