Spent six hours on a plane. Got situated in hotel and took off on this hike. It's not a very difficult hike but all the other folks on the trail were in their 20s and 30s. The trail starts off with some forsaken ropes and...More

Breathtaking 360 degree views from the top. Worth the effort required to reach the top. Was semi challenging hike for me as this hike is a steady and steep upward climb. It was fairly easy for my hubby, but he did feel the burn from...More

We hiked this trail on a December Friday and the weather was sunny and windy. The trail this day was very busy and crowded in some spots especially by the pillboxes. The trail is a mix of compact dirt and some rocky terrain. If walking...More

We're big hikers, whether it's in urban, tropical or wilderness settings. Everyone told us to check out Pillboxes, so we did. We're never fans of hiking in a wash, and the steep climb combined with the wash footing and private nature of the trail made...More

As a novice hiker I lean towards hikes rated easy to moderate. This hike was more than moderate for me and any reference that only the beginning is difficult is incorrect. This is a rewarding hike on a cloudy, dry day. I wouldn’t want to...More

You will need to park near the public beach access because the entrance is located on a private drive where cars are not permitted. Moderate hike. Rain will make the trail muddy and slick. Use the ropes in the beginning to help with footing.

I think our kids at that would really have loved this hike! But can't imagine trying to do it in flip flops! There are some steep spots!
