Though not as large or as popular as the portion of Acadia that most tourists visit, it is more enjoyable if you simply want to relax, enjoy views of the coast, and avoid the crowds that swarm over Bar Harbor and the nearby attractions.

This is an absolutely breathtaking drive around the peninsula! The rocks, the surf, the trees and the view of the mountains across the ocean....just fantastic! There are many pull offs on the road where you can stop and walk around, breathe in the sea air...More

The signs said to use caution due to rough surf. They were right! The surf was up and the waves were crashing in the rocky coast. Worth the trip from the main part of Acadia to see!

The ocean was flat as glass but the waves at Schoodic Point still put on a show. Don't miss this part of Acadia NP.

Take the time to drive to this separate part of Acadia National Park. Not many tourists do so it is less crowded and well worth the effort to climb on the beautiful rocks at the point.

We enjoyed the austere beauty of the Maine coastline without crowds or parking hassles. The dramatic surf and granite coastline are stunning.

Schoodic Peninsula is not on Mount Desert Island (which is where the rest of Acadia National Park is located), but it is THE rockbound Maine coast for spectacular granite ledges and ocean views.

I'm not sure, but I think I may have enjoyed this area even more than the main part of Acadia National Park. The scenery is breathtaking and the crowds are minimal. And we just so happened to catch a sunset here...best pictures of the entire...More
