Experience the Exploratorium, a hands-on museum of science, art, and human perception that's dedicated to the excitement of experimentation, the pleasure of discovery, and the power of play. Indulge your curiosity in over 600 exhibits-indoors and out-and explore eye-opening ways to understand the world around you. Don't miss the iconic Tactile Dome, where you can take an interactive excursion in total darkness using your sense of touch as your only guide (be sure to make a reservation in advance). There's also a unique museum store plus two delicious places to eat: the SeaGlass restaurant, which has a stunning Bay view, and the Seismic Joint cafe. Located at Pier 15 along San Francisco's Embarcadero between Pier 39 and the Ferry Building, the Exploratorium is easy to get to by public transportation (the F-Market & Wharves Historic Streetcar stops out front and it's a ten-minute walk from BART or MUNI) plus there's parking nearby. Tickets are available online (recommended) or at the door.

I am very happy my family visited this most unusual hands-on science museum. I don't know what the crowds are like on a sunny, non-weekend day -- but on a rainy Sunday, it was jam packed. The place is massive and the number of exhibits are plentiful, and while I am glad we visited, I would prefer to return under... More

I enjoyed my visit. I highly recommend for people travelling with kids. Very interactive and set out well. Great view of the bridges. However, being Australian I've seen amazing science museums in Brisbane, Canberra, and Melbourne. For this reason I'm rate 4/5. If you're from East Coast Australia I'd suggest you could miss it. Or if your visiting Australia -... More

Spent an entire day at the Exploratorium marveling at all the gadgetry explanations of phenomena that most of us take for granted.

This museum is very cool. There are so many things to do and see here. I love that everything is interactive and made for kids to really explore about science and art combined. It's not only great for kids, but adults as well. There wasn't much of a dull moment here.

So many "hands on" exhibits ( take your pocket hand sanitizer in cold season)) The kids are having so much fun they have no idea it is an educational activity .

Visited with our 9 year old boys and they literally had to kick us out. There is so much to do there. Wish we had something like this at home, we'd be there everyone weekend.

Absolutely amazing visit. Clean, spacious and with more hands on exhibits than you can imagine (really you cannot begin to imagine). Give yourself a whole day to enjoy, explore and play. In the words of my 11 year old daughter: "one of the best things to do in San Francisco". Go and have a blast!!! And an awesome learning experience.

The exploratorium is probably one of the best science centers in the world for young children. Hands-on learning that are fun, exciting, and actually functional most of the time. Adults learn as much as kids!

Many stimulating and interacttive evolving installations. My grandchildren understood more of it than I did, but I learned a lot!
