Many souvenir shops, restaurants and my personal highlight the sea lions. You'll get also a wonderful view of Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge from the promenade. Simply walk to the end of the pier. The pier visit is a must for San Francisco and belongs to the city as well as the famous red steel colossus. Plan a nice... More

There is so much to see and do on Pier 39 , whether it's eating ( spoilt for choice ) shopping ( spoilt again ) or just taking a stroll and watching some very good Street performers, pier 39 has it all and then some. You've got to visit.

My kid can spent hours here just looking at these buddies. They are seriously entertaining. Sadly there are not many during this period. The place was packed perhaps it is a weekend. Will be a good place to spend some time.

Pier 39 is such a great stop! They have some great shops (check out Bliss in the back to the right of the carousel) for great inexpensive jewelry finds. We love going to Bubba Gumps upstairs....always a great time. The aquarium is wonderful! I highly recommend it if you can make time for it. Not quite Monterey Bay Aquarium but... More

It's a great place to see the Sea Lions. They bunch together at the pier. One waved at us with his flipper. Plenty of shops and restaurants are there too.

Tour the shops, have a drink, see Alcatraz just across the water, watch the sun go down, enjoy the street musicians and so forth and it's all safe...

Got to experience the hustle and bustle of the most iconic pier in San Francisco! But be prepared to pay over the odds for food. To see the seals go to the end on the left, there are signs and there's a little information centre and shop, great too for the kids. Unfortunately both times I went to see the... More

Busy pier full of lovely souvenirs and unusual shops. There are numerous restaurants situated amongst the shops so can combine shopping and gift hunting. If you walk right along the pier to the bay front you can see the Sea Lions on the deck. A good place for all the family and all ages.
