It's kind of park, but not exactly. More of a "mini urban oasis." Places to sit, have a snack, people-watch, etc., surrounded by posh stores in beautiful, tall buildings. Absolutely unique and right on a cable car line, as if it weren't quaint enough already.

Many restaurants and shopping in this area. Attract many tourists. At this time of year there was skating ring. Big Christmas tree. Close to cable cars. If you are here for shopping this is your place. Many hotels in the area.

head to marshales or ross to do your cheapest shopping there its mega malls for clearances, but don't expect a friendly staff its very obvious that people working there are paid minimum wages and they hate their jobs so just roam around to find what you need don't expect a VIP treatment , also don't expect sizes so to save... This area is home to high end retail and novelty shops and restaurants and bars. It is also the hub of one of the remaining cable car lines. There was a bit of construction happening, I think it's a new subway/metro station going in. It's a good place for walking around to the shops, as well as a place to... More

I stayed at a Marriott just north of Union Square. My room had a view of the square, which was nicely lite up at night for the Christmas season. First time we've seen palm trees with Christmas lights...very nice! My conference was in the Hilton, so I would walk through and pass by the Union Square. It is a nice... More

I had a conference in San Fran and stayed near Union Square. It was the perfect spot with shopping and dining and easy to get to fun spots like fisherman's wharf.

My wife and I stayed at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square and had some time to fill one day on our vacation and walked around Union Square. We found the area to be predominantly high end shopping. We visited a few stores and browsed but were not in need of anything specific. For the most part, you can get... More

Myself and my girlfriend have both previously visited Cheesecake Factory in the states and other countries and have found the service first class, as we were in San Francisco and wanted something quick to eat, this seemed logical - sadly our prior expectations were not met. There is no room to wait and as this is one of the busiest... More
