We were fortunate to get tickets to the special exhibit of the Belgian artist, Rene Magritte. It did not disappoint in its layout and extensiveness. So many special pieces to ponder and see up close. It was a Saturday so there were lots of Visitors...More

The museum is a great collection of modern, post-modern and contemporary pieces from around the world and nationally. The architecture and curatorial practice allows for an interesting interaction and engagement with and between artworks. The collection houses some famous and interesting works from a range...More

The SFMOMA is a cool museum. The building itself is cool. We went there with our 5y old and he behaved very well, didn’t touch anything, didn’t run around, didn’t scream or smth like it. Still every time we saw a guard, they looked so...More

Phenomenon exhibition ‘the Fifth season’ by Rene Magritte at SF Moma. The Modern Art on the 5th floor is a must to drop by as well as create your fashion post with the louise bourgeois spider :)

Saw the Rene Magritte exhibit, also stunning video works by Arthur Jafa (Love Is The Message, The Message Is Death,). Everything beautifully hung and displayed; manageable size for a day. Take the elevator to the 7th floor and work your way down; a few pleasant...More

7 floors of well-curated exhibits. Easily spent 3 hrs here and highly recommend it. So much to see and the architectural aesthetic of the building is amazing. The surprise bonus was the 2nd floor ladies restroom.

An extension has opened so now there is a much larger area for expos. Some of it not so nice. Come and form your own opinion. I recommend a visit here for a special expo that interests you as the permanent collection is limited.

Some nice pieces of art, but not really a world class gallery. Very disappointing that we were sold tickets (which are expensive at $25) with only an hour to closing time without being notified, we thought the gallery closed at 6pm, not 5pm so the...More

Enjoyed a guided tour while attending a conference. Our guide, Elizabeth, was very knowledgeable and pointed out important pieces despite time constraints. She also was able to provide the background information how the artists arrived at their styles. It helped to focus when coming back...More

Housed in a spacious modern building, this Museum has an excellent permanent collection of art works. They are well displayed over many floors. Most of the artists are Americans and many are still alive giving the collection a very contemporary flavor. Excellent labeling.

South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated
vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs
and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to
find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter
for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able
to do more than just business - museums, top quality
restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call
this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized
