A must to see in person to get the real feel of the incline

This is one of those must see in person places. From pictures and seeing it on TV, it does not do it justice. Beware, it is a very vigorous climb. Aprrox. 250 steps on each... read more

Nice to see, but really not as big a deal as it is touted to be. If you are in the immediate area, then by all means stop by and check it out its cool. Otherwise, don't waste too much time and effort.

I took my family to see Lombard street recently. I was surprised how well maintained the area is. The landscape is very beautiful. I would recommend that you drive down then walk up to get the best experience.

OK, couple of movie scenes were made here, it is a nice little location, but that's all about it. Nothing more, nothing less.

Lots of tourists in this area. So better be early to find a spot for photography. Be prepared for a uphill climb. Definitely need to be physically fit for this. Alternatively hop onto the tram.

The Painted lady tours drove us down Lombard Street. It is so very steep and curvy every few feet we would have to brake and slow down to make the next curve. You have to see it!

We had a great time driving down the turns of Lombard Street. Tried to video it and missed the first time so had to go back! Also walked back up to it and walked the path along the edge.

This is one of the quintessential San Francisco tourist experiences. Like the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf and Coit Tower, virtually every tourist to the city comes here. So, you needed worry about being alone. Even relatively late at night when we visited, there were plenty of people walking the street and a line of cars waiting to drive down.... More

Lombard Street has the reputation as the most crooked street in the world, but this is not really the case as Vermont Street between 20th & 22nd has this honor. Still tourist flock here to Lombard to see the well-maintained trees, plants and shrubs along this street with sharp switch-backs. I exited the Hyde Street cable car at the top... More

Staying in Russian Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Russian Hill
Russian Hill has evolved into a chic residential neighborhood with outstanding views from every corner. Combined with several great cafes, restaurants, antique shops and boutiques, it’s easy to see why any visitor would gladly leave their heart in San Francisco. Cars line up day after day to drive down Lombard Street, the “crookedest” street in the world, and make the slow creep downhill past charming period homes. Polk Street is the main drag in this neighborhood, where you will find trendy bars, cafes and shops populated with locals, but for one of the most charming rides in the city, grab a cable car heading up and down Hyde Street.
