It's a nice drive twisting down the road. You get a better experience if there is no traffic (which there usually is). If you are going to be in San Francisco, then you should really try it out.

It was fun to see how cars struggled to move along the path from top to the bottom. Visitors tend to stand at the bottom to take pictures but can't be longer than 1 min 'cause of traffic. I found that standing at the middle of the street is easier to get a nice shot.

I can't imagine the people that live on this street are ok with the amount of tourists that Walk on their driveways. It's quite the experience with the steep drop off a, and super curvy road.

It's a winding street with a lot of traffic. It is the most over hyped thing in the city and just pretty dull (perhaps due to it being winter?) but yeah save yourself a climb up the hill and do something else.

You've got a long wait in a line of cars that needs to merge in a couple of intersections (some city driver guts may be helpful there). Lombard us a one way street. You enter at the top of the hill and drive to the bottom. To get a good picture, probably best to wait to get to the bottom,... More

We passed Lombard street on our walking tour through the city. Cars where everywhere. The city should close this street for traffic and make it a nice park. Would also be better for the people living there I guess.

We got out early & it paid off. Lombard was Empty we were the only ones on the street. The view was great. It's worth the time if your not stuck in traffic all the way down.

Staying in Russian Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Russian Hill
Russian Hill has evolved into a chic residential neighborhood with outstanding views from every corner. Combined with several great cafes, restaurants, antique shops and boutiques, it’s easy to see why any visitor would gladly leave their heart in San Francisco. Cars line up day after day to drive down Lombard Street, the “crookedest” street in the world, and make the slow creep downhill past charming period homes. Polk Street is the main drag in this neighborhood, where you will find trendy bars, cafes and shops populated with locals, but for one of the most charming rides in the city, grab a cable car heading up and down Hyde Street.
