A really funny street with tiny curves! One thinks a car won't pass, but it does! The houses are beautiful and all clean! It's a curious place to visit.

Get ready for a real roller coaster ride! We were enjoying a tour on the SF Love Tour van and it was a very exciting ride on this emblematic street.

It was interesting to see for the second time, but being winter, there were no plants or flowers to decorate it. Many people were hanging about so it's obviously popular among the tourists. I think I would save it for the future for us sometime visit to see the pretty flowers lining the streets. It would make a much more... More

It's worth a visit, as the houses go for about $5m and it also the curviest road I have ever seen. Very impressive at night, with the Bay Bridge in the distance. My picture does not do it justice!

You can walk down the street but honestly the fun of it is being able to drive down. Start at the top for great views but if you can catch a ride to Ghirardelli Square or something, ask the driver to take you down the street. If you have your own car, definitely do it! It's crooked fun!

We followed Golden Horizon Tour and our awesome personal tour guide and driver ,Jon was so skilful in driving the SUV through the narrow and croaked private road. It is steep and we felt like going into people's houses if brakes are not working. A very thrilling experience and a must to experience the driving.

After checking in to our hotel near Union Square we walked to Chinatown, through little Italy, through Nob Hill and Russian Hill then up to the top of Lombard Street. This famous, steep and squiggley one way street is fun to see but be prepared to get your exercise. Either that or hop on the cable car that can drop... More

It's a tourist attraction and magnet for visitors and given a huge amount of hype. It is steep, it is twisty and it is fun, albeit at a walking pace. Glad to have done it but honestly life's not that much richer for the experience. The residents hate it and I can see why, It will surely end soon so... More

Staying in Russian Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Russian Hill
Russian Hill has evolved into a chic residential neighborhood with outstanding views from every corner. Combined with several great cafes, restaurants, antique shops and boutiques, it’s easy to see why any visitor would gladly leave their heart in San Francisco. Cars line up day after day to drive down Lombard Street, the “crookedest” street in the world, and make the slow creep downhill past charming period homes. Polk Street is the main drag in this neighborhood, where you will find trendy bars, cafes and shops populated with locals, but for one of the most charming rides in the city, grab a cable car heading up and down Hyde Street.
