The view across the bay is absolutely stunning. Because the topography is fairly steep, it makes for a really pretty hilly backdrop. The bridges are nice for those who like the architectural aspect. There is often fog, but the light is really nice for photography....More

I would recommend some good walking shoes, water, snacks. Parking is hard to find. Make sure to go to Pier 39 and take some photos.

Tourist hot spot! Very busy. Good shops and restaurants (chains). Lovely to see the sea lions up close. Good atmosphere.

All you could want and more - lots of your "tacky" souveniers and the bars and restaurants were incredibly busy but had the most amazing breakfast waffle at the Bakery. The sour dough turtle was also a great treat

Love the bay! Awesome views from everywhere. The bay has so much to offer, surfing, wind surfing, boating. A very active and exciting place.

Nice walk. - maybe avoid weekends, plenty of bars and places to eat, the market is lovely with fresh produce etc

This is just the bay area and there is nothing special as such. It is more the overall walk and enjoying the surroundings, having a small talk with the fisherman etc. Stop at a nice restaurant somewhere and enjoy the views and atmosphere.

Loved our visit to the San Francisco Bay. Very crowded though. Was a bright sunny day when we visited, so was nice. The surrounding is nice. We enjoyed it

I would vote for the East Bay as a base with sojourns into the City, but I would stay more on the Berkeley/Kensington/Solano side of things rather than Oakland. Weatherwise, fall and spring are the sunnier times for SF... More
