I admit to not being too interested in the Wharf at first, but we had some great seafood at a few of the restaurants. We really enjoyed touring the old submarine and Navy ship. Getting to see how cramped life was on these ships made me appreciate our service members even more! My husband enjoyed the arcade with pinball machines... More

Quite busy and very touristy area. Mostly just a ton of gift shops and a few restaurants. In N Out Burger is here as well, which is pretty hyped.

The area is very crowded and touristy, with lots of knick knack-type souvenir shops and overpriced restaurants. We walked through after our Alcatraz tour and didn't find anything that great about it. I would not say this area represents the city of San Francisco much, but perhaps if you are with kids they might find the street performers and the... More

Get the fish or crab you came to San Francisco to eat in a variety of ways. Street entertainers, shops and seagulls galore. Great walk to Ghiardelli Square and to Golden Gate Park.

Something going on here all the time from one end of the wharf to the other including queuing to go over to see Alcatraz from pier 39. You can just sit and look out ot the water, or pop into a cafe for a bite to eat. Have a glass of wine while sitting outside in the restaurant garden/courtyard area... More

So many activities to do in this area. I love the US vessel that was docked there when we visited. The bakery, the wax museum, the restaurants, the side street food for chowder are all great. It is nice to walk in that area. Parking is hard though and very cold when near the water itself.

Touristy, trashy, grubby, . Had famous crab meal and thought stale, overrated. Would not recommend for dining. Disappointing.

Very, very crowded. Disappointing for us because of the huge crowds there were lines for all places to eat. Because of the lack of bathrooms the lines were crazy.... I have never seen 20. -30 men in line for a bathroom before this.
