To see the city from the tower was amazing and a little scary for me..took me a couple of minutes to adjust my mind ( being so high.). the art is moving and so alive. The people working there were really informed which was nice....More

Stop by for sure so you don't miss the outstanding view from their observatory tower. Great sculptures and interesting revolving exhibits.

You do not have to go into the museum to see this treasure. It is the big black something on the right side when you face the entrance. Discover what the mischeivious cherubs are doing

This is always worth a visit, even if only to go up the tower for the view and the gift shop:) The exhibits are always interesting, even if the theme seems mundane (hello, summer of love,) and the displays are accessible. Beware summer weekend crowds,...More

Very fancy new display space with questionable esthetics. The collection is a weird mixture of the stuff that people have left the museum, so one is left reeling from the weird combinations. Some treasures. They have some great parties here.

The museum is located in beautiful Golden Gate Park. The museum featured American paintings from the 17th to the 20th centuries and oceanic and African art at the time of our visit. The art work is of the highest quality. While most places have an...More

The museum may be pricey but they offer a free view of the city and it is right next to the Japanese Tea Garden.

One of my favourite places in SF. I've never managed both museums in one day, because we always have lunch at the DY. Go there by bus for a discounted ticket.

Definitely worth a visit along with the Legion of Honor museum. You should check the website for current ticket prices (both museums in one day on one ticket, I think). (I am a painter and kind of picky about these things.)
