We hadn't intended to go into the museum but a friendly local advised us to go in & go to the viewing area at the top of the tower which is free to do. So glad we did as the views were extensive on such...More

Interesting art but not our cup of tea, still a great building, we liked the architecture and the look out on the observation deck is worse all the money.

The de Young and Legion of Honor share the exhibit focuses and entry fee. Beautiful museum with wonderful installations. Because they share entry fee with the Legion of Honor, the admission price is very reasonable.

The grounds around this museum are very enjoyable. There are outdoor pieces of art and the courtyard in front of the museum has a large scattering of palm trees. There is an indoor viewing tower for photography. The artwork is very well laid out and...More

The De Young Museum is a first class museum. Not only does it have a nice collection of its own - specifically African Art, but it also puts together some great special shows. An example is the most recent Contemporary Muslim Fashion Exhibit. Not only...More

You'll allways find interesting expositions. Beautiful building, with a kind of "tower" for astonishing views. The cafeteria is extremely nice, with a lovely terrace and garden

The observatory deck and the Turrell sky space are both accessible without ticketed entry and are worth the time if you're in the park.

We bought a San Francisco Go Card and the De Young Museum was included in the card price. We found the extra exhibit entry fee to be expensive. The building is beautiful and has an elevator to the ninth floor which affords spectacular views of...More

There are other special exhibits all year. Their website can let you know the dates. They also run shows at the Legion of Honor, it is another museum about 15 minutes away from the deYoung.

One of my favourite places in SF. I've never managed both museums in one day, because we always have lunch at the DY. Go there by bus for a discounted ticket.
