We went tonight to see Aida...and I was impressed. It is truly a marvelous theater. The inside is opulent...even though the seats are for someone who weighs about 100 pounds. Your knees and legs can move to a 95 degree and that is all, my folks! Your shoes touch the seat in front of you. But that is not even... More

Yes, the SFO is truly one of the top 5 opera houses in the country. I hesitated with the thought of going to Aida because of the expense. But there are "Rush" tickets the day of the performance. You need to check online as it isn't available for every performance. Discount tickets are at the opera house or online but... More

We took our 12 year old to the opera to see Aida. The Opera house is beautiful and the current production of Aida is fabulous- the opera lasted around 3 and a half hours with intermissions and we did not feel the time pass. Strongly recommend it for families:it is a very special outing and the story behind Aida will... More

My friend treated me to a performance of The Makropulos Case here. It was my first opera. The sets were fantastic, as were the costumes. I certainly enjoyed the performance of Nadja Michael. She was great playing an opera diva. The opera building is beautiful too. My favorite part of the building was the golden woman upon the golden horse... More

Recently saw the performance of Don Pasquale which was humorous and entertaining show. The singing, acting orchestra and stage production values were great. I sat in the upper balcony and was able to see the stage and also view the show from the big screen. The theatre itself was classic.

I do not have the income for expensive opera seats - mores the pity. Also trips abroad are often planned quite last minute, so availability of tickets even up in the balcony can be nil. The policy of selling standing tickets on the day (from the box office starting at 10.00am) for just $10 is excellent. Here's an interesting point... More

We saw Carmen with C orchestra tickets. Seats were not that comfortable. Restroom situation was terrible and worse for woman- very long lines and just one entrance/exit. Acoustics decent. Cast okay, Carmen singer disappointing tonight. We parked $15 Performance Arts Garage.

Went to see 2 operas in June 2016 (Don Carlo and Jenufa). Sat in the front of the balcony and had an excellent view. (Also, balcony seats from rows D and beyond have excellent view of a video screen.) Pre-opera, had a sandwich in the basement. Had drinks at intermission (you are able to pre-order intermission drinks before the opera.)... More

The San Francisco opera is a part of the city and its culture that must be experienced. The voices, talent, music, choreography, drama, and sets give you an experience like no other. The operas offered during a given season are often unusual, surprising at times, but always stimulating. And, with the unobtrusive libretto translations clearly displayed above the stage, one need... More
