Weird. Contemporary art but not really Jewish. Expected at least more Jewish artists or at least some more Jewish content. Building is ok not as nice as other Daniel Libeskind designed museums we have been to. Video project was ok but very amateurish. We were told that the exhibits change and that there are no permanent exhibits.

It took me 20 minutes to see everything. I felt like I wasted my money to really see nothing. The art really wasn't good

Very limited display. I would recommend this current show for adults only. i do not feel children would get anything out of the show

There are a few exhibits. I didn't find the art compelling at all. The one exhibit that was ok was a sand in a spinning wheel. The gift shop did have lots of great Judaica available. They sell these amazing mezuzas that are imprints of where mezuzas were taken off in Poland.

Good place to visit and take the guided tour which explains the concept behind the design and history of the building and exhibitions up to the present day. The upper levels were being refurbished so it doesn't take long to get around the ground floor, make sure you have lunch at the wise sons deli on site!

visited this museum on a rainy day and found it to be of interest. There was a very large circlular motorized wheel filled with sand from Israel. It slowly turned causing the sand to slide down just as it might in a wind blown desert.

Very convenient to visit just a block South of Market Street. Easily viewed within an hour plus, because of the small-ish space. Really liked the "Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival" exhibit, a local favorite.

Saw the Kubrick exhibit, which is good and comprehensive. I was hoping for a more complete collection that reflected something about the history and culture of the local Jewish community, so I was quite disappointed to learn that there is no permanent collection here. Probably won't return.

I didn't know where the museum was or what it was like, but I was interested specifically in seeing the Kubrick exhibit. What a pleasant surprise. I visited San Francisco on a sunny fall day. The courtyard was beautiful and bustling with people passing through. It is very good urban design. The building itself is a little tucked in but... More

I stopped in to see the Kubrick exhibit and I thought it was well enjoyable . Since the Museum only has three exhibits you don't feel compelled to rush through anything. My only complaint would be that, with the exception of a brief mention of his origins in Brooklyn there was no connection between Kubrick and anything Jewish. I didn't... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighbourhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighbourhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
