Another Daniel Libeskind triumph and a great space for the contemporary themes of the temporary exhibitions. A number of interesting displays were underway at our visit and it was great to see the vibrant modernity of Jewish culture on public display.

The Jewish Contemporary Museum is in a growing arts district, right across from SFMOMA and Yerba Buena Arts Center. The building is a wonderful redesign of a historic power station. Although it doesn’t exhibit its own collection, it exhibits traveling shows which it augments with...More

Because this museum has consciously not maintained a permanent collection, we've always found something different to enjoy when we visit. Worth adding to your museum mix, and an hour or two is typically enough if you're pressed for time. Checked out the current "Veiled Meanings"...More

Highly recommend to see Veiled Meanings, Jewish dresses from all over the World. Don't miss the movie on how the dresses were assembled, it's in the hall before you enter the exhibit on the 2nd floor, and there is a small bench to sit on....More

On the way towards Yerba Buena Gardens you pass the Contemporary Jewish Museum and it’s eye-catching blue stainless steel cube extension - worth a look.

Arrived in time for an interesting guided tour on tattoos, and then found rest of museum was closed as new installation being prepared. Was FREE as 1st Tuesday of the month so pleased we didn't pay for what was so little.

A beautiful historical powerhouse building redesigned and reconfigured with subtle modern additions by Daniel Libeskind, with terrific galleries and rotating exhibits. (I saw a wonderful exhibition of Rube Goldberg’s work on a recent trip!) Beautiful location, too, across the street from MOMA SF!

This museum is a big disappointment. Its architecture is beautiful, but there is precious little to see inside the museum. That striking cube designed by architect Daniel Liebeskind turns out to be vacuous. The space is supposed to be used for audio installations, but I’ve...More

We came here specifically to see the Rube Goldberg exhibit - growing up in the UK, I never saw any of his cartoons and only knew about his contraptions. While his cartoons were interesting I thought his gadgets were less elaborate than those of Heath...More

The changing exhibits at the Jewish Museum are what I tend to visit, so I can’t swear to the ongoing art. The current exhibit on Rube Goldberg, master, witty cartoonist and inventor, was delightful. It brought back wonderful childhood memories—my father was a big fan....More
