Although we were not able to drive across the San Francisco Bay Bridge we were able to watch the evening light display two evenings. The best view was shortly before our ship left port. As night fell on San Francisco Too bad there was no music to accompany the light show. I was told that the lights on the bridge... More

(Last) visited December 2016. Weekday, rush hour. Toll: $7 cash. Traffic: A lot, but moving. People do drive cautiously, so it isn't too overwhelming. Bridge: Provides great views of going into the city. Has been renovated. But like others have stated, not as glamorous at the Golden State Bridge. From my knowledge, you cannot walk onto this bridge either.

The Bay Bridge may not be as famous as the Golden Gate Bridge but to those in SF it's equally a landmark if not more so as it's visible from anywhere close to downtown. It's worth it for the ride across the Bay, that and you get to come back on a different level with a different vantage point. When... More

It's a bridge. We have four of them in proximity to San Francisco, two coming directly from the City to the North Bay (Sausalito/Marin) and the East Bay (Oakland). The bridge going to the North Bay is the Golden Gate Bridge, and is an architectural masterpiece that defines the image of San Francisco and flies in the face of the... More

If you're driving between San Francisco and East Bay cities such as Oakland, Berkeley, or further - to Sacramento, Lake Tahoe, and points East, you will likely drive over the Bay Bridge, which actually includes two linked bridges. The Western Span, completed in 1936, is a "double decker" bridge, with eastbound traffic on the bottom deck. The westbound lanes, on... More

We found Bay Bridge more beautiful than Golden Gate bridge. This bridge is decorated with LED lights also and the view in the night of this bridge is great. It looks like decorated with pearl strings. We went to the bridge in day time as well as in the night also.

The history of this bridge is fascinating, as is the construction. Beautiful sights from the bridge too. I really enjoyed seeing the light show which is incorporated into the bridge structure and was amazed to hear the light show costs a mere $6 per night to operate. Wow! Worth seeing for sure.

This bridge is best viewed from the Ferry building at night while eating seafood. It was fitted with new LED lighting in 2016 and looks awesome.

Be sure to cross the bridge and go west for the best views of the bridge! Most people seemed to stop at the first place.
