My friend and I showed up and everyone that worked at Bay City Bike Rentals and Tours was SUPER helpful. We had never been to SF before so we had tons of question and they were more than happy to help. Everyone that worked there was super upbeat and kind. I will definitely be back for sure!

Excellent trip despite the rain. Guide (Matt) was very informative. Would recommend for all ages - only three easy hills

Everything about this business is great. The bikes were in perfect shape, the staff educated, and they make sure you are taken care of. I saw a lot of bikes out there from Bay City Bike Rentals and I know why. They rock!!

I would highly recommend biking over the Golden Gate Bridge and then down into Sausalito for lunch and returning by ferry for anyone looking for a fun, exciting adventure. And using Bay City Bike Rentals and Tours to rent bikes worked wonderfully for us. We got a Groupon the day we rented the bikes so be sure to look for... More

I had a wonderful time on this bike tour. The guide, Matt, was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. We saw so many beautiful sights with the Golden Gate Bridge being the pinnacle. It was a wonderful adventure and I highly recommend Bay City Bike Rentals!

I rented the bike and all the way across the bridge the gears kept dropping and the chain kept falling off... when I got back... the guy told me I could have rung and got a new bike delivered but I wasn't told this at the start and I told him I didn't have a phone so I couldn't ...... More

Hello, I’m sorry to hear that you had trouble with your gears, and the substandard customer service on your return. We train our staff to tell all customers about our phone number and rescue service in case of emergencies or equipment issues. That you were not told about this is inexcusable, and we will redouble our efforts to ensure that... More

5 of us rented bikes for the Sausalito ride over the Golden Gate Bridge. This is not for the faint of heart but we had 2 - 64 year old that made it. Ended in Sausalito at the best little downtown we've seen in CA. Quaint and restful. Stopped at the Barrel House for convenience to the Ferry ride back... More

Bay City Bike offered reasonably priced electric bike rentals in SF. (Having already taken a Electric bike SF tour with another company, I wanted to hire an electric bike to ride over the Golden Gate Bridge, then to Sausalito and Tiburon, etc...) I booked the hire online which saved me 10%. The online booking was a smooth process. Only complaint... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighbourhood home.
