The Real SF Tour offers 4 incredible tours merging sightseeing and trekking...

The Real SF Tour offers 4 incredible tours merging sightseeing and trekking with public transit for the most authentic visitor experience in San Francisco. Part urban adventure, part urban trek, and totally green, The Real SF Tours take you where no other tours can go. You’ll visit enchanted gardens, secret stairways, glorious rooftop views, and some of the city’s coolest neighbourhoods. You’ll be avoiding large crowds of tourists while experiencing the real culture of San Francisco and learning about its rich and storied history. You’ll traverse the city on Cable Cars, Light Rail, and City Buses. You must be able to walk 4 separate uphill 1.5 block sections, there are a total of 6 uphill flights of stairs, and 15 downhill flights of stairs, spread throughout the day. The day encompasses over 5 miles of walking including short uphill sections and hidden stairways that most people find extremely enjoyable. If you do not walk regularly this tour may be more challenging than enjoyable. If you have any difficulty going up and downstairs we do not recommend this tour. Please only wear comfortable closed toe walking shoes. Tours run daily departing from the California St Cable Car turnaround.

Hubby and I just moved to the Bay Area and wanted to do a tour in SF to get to know the city. The Real SF Tour delivered exactly what we hoped for. It stands out from the typical tour company in offering something a little more unique and authentic. We were able to do tourist things but - taking... More

I booked my family on this tour because I personally like using public transportation and thought we could see alot of the city between walking and the bus system, plus it was an all day tour. I was very disappointed. The first half of the day i would pretty much sum up as "the tour of learning and riding every... More

I will issue a full and immediate refund. We ride the transit system in the morning and then trek in the afternoon by design. That is new, in previous... More

My husband and college age children began our San Francisco vacation with this walking tour. Of course, I got the "eyes" when I told my kids it was an all day tour, but at the end of our trip they conceded that it was one of the best/most informative things we did. Chris was terrific as he showed us the... More

It rained all day on us, but Chris was great and gave an all day walking tour to me, my daughter and 3 other tourists willing to brave the cold and wet. Very interesting tour using a variety of public transport. Chris apparently knows to the minute when the bus, train or cable car will arrive, so virtually no waiting.... More

My wife and I had a fantastic tour with Chris today, it's our first time in SF and he showed us around town - all the typical sites, but also the off the beaten track little lanes and provided great tips on restaurants. A very informative and value for money tour. We highly recommend!

Thanks for the awesome review Dan. It was a really fun day dodging a few showers. I can't thank you enough for trying out the new 8:30 a.m. Real SF Tour Winter start time with me. It's going to be a great way to see the city in the cold months and it's a little less walking so it will... More

Ideally you take this tour at the start of your visit to San Fran, however, we did it near the end and it was still the best part of our trip. Frankly, you are not going to be able to efficiently see and experience this much of San Fran by yourself in a day (probably in 3 days actually). The... More

I have done many of these tours in the big citys in the united states, this by far was one of the best. The walking tour really is what it states so be prepared to walk well over your 10,000 steps. Lots of the highlights in the city you do in this one tour which is great as if your short... More

Robin was our tour guide and it was a fabulous tour. Cable car, buses, BART and walking through 11 neighborhoods. It was an organized, fun and educational day. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking something different and learning about many neighborhoods in SF.

Staying in Financial District

Neighbourhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
