Apparently the hight of Haight was only a few months but it still seems to eek through. We took the pay as you wish CityWalk tour which I would highly recommend. I love seeing the iconic homes in the area.

I always prefer seeing a place from the eyes of a local instead of the usual tourist areas (that locals stay away from too). You can definitely feel the heartbeat of San Francisco along this street. Yes there are a few homeless people and many hippy type of stores but isn't that what traveling is about - seeing the city for what it truly is and not a touristy facade. I loved weaving in and out of the quaint cafés and stores. Sometimes you will find yourself in a thrift store and other times in an upmarket boutique. By night the vibe still continues with fantastic bars, I stumbled upon a comedy show too. I love discovering the different aspects of this street day and night!

Wow, what an amazing few blocks. IIf you want to trip back to the 60's then this is the place to visit. All very authentic, great experience inside and outside the shops. Only a $15 cab ride from downtown SF or get the 71 bus for just $2. Glad we went

After visiting Golden Gate Park, my family walked down Haight St looking for a place for a quick bite for lunch. We ended up eating at "Escape from NY Pizza" which was very good. However, being on Haight street was an uncomfortable experience. The area was dirty with the constant smell of marijuana lingering in the air. There were mentally ill people wandering about asking for spare change, and lots of unsavory people standing in front of the different shops. In front of one shop were two naked men with their genitals sparcely covered. Strangely, just one block over from Haight St had nice apartments and homes which contrasted with the crudeness of Haight. Unless you have a high tolerance for nastiness or are super curious, I would suggest avoiding Haight St.

Great vibe during the day but scary at night. A little sketchy. I'm concern about the amount of dogs with the homeless. I hope they are taken care of or else please give them a good home.

Lots of dreadlocks, tie dye, & 4-20. I walked to Haight Street from Golden Gate Park. It's a very busy street with lots of tourists. There are bars, tattoo places & shops of all kinds. I visited because I enjoy history & I can say that I have been there. It's definitely part of the pop culture history in the U.S. The bit of history that I know of Haight is the upper Haight is where Graham Nash, the Grateful Dead & others like Marylin Monroe & Patty Hearst made their homes. It's also famous for being the primary site for the Summer of Love (1967) when George Harrison walked down it. I spent about two hours wandering, but you could easily spend more time here.

This is an important part of the city, stretching from the Civic Center through the historic African American Western Addition, now totally gentrified, and then on to Buena Vista Park, with all the beautiful buildings, and then the Haight with all the craziness which still exists, sort of. Lots to see and experience.

Loved walking through the Haight district. Felt safe the whole time, loved the shops and bars along the street-- just a very cool vibe. Hard to find any tie dye though-- JK , it's all over the place!

I live on Haight, here's what to do beyond the clothes-shopping experience. Walk to the top of Buena Vista Park, burial site of the last hippie (in effigy, secret location.) Continue into neighborhood streets and explore your way back down to Haight. Go west 2 blocks from the park to Bound Together Anarchist Book Collective (if open), the Sci-Fi book shop (opening 2019) next door, and Twisted Thistle Apothecarium for your smart drugs next to that. 2 blocks more to Gus' market for cheap deli lunch and outdoor seating or else further down is Street Taco, or Dragon Eats vietnamese. Visit the Bindery bookshop/event-space where titles are shelved chronologically from Epic of Gilgamesh to the present. Take your book for a beer, a Russian River IPA at Murillo's Trophy Room or smoke a sheesha next door then shop the massive record store, Amoeba, next to that. But don't miss Free Gold Watch pinball/screenprinting mecca on the block just behind Amoeba (Waller Street) which may be the best destination in the upper haight.

Had the unfortunate luck of having to visit here with the wife as she thought it would be fun ,, I dont believe I have ever seen so many homeless people asking for money and giving you grief if you didnt comply with thier demands. Streets were filthy and the people,, Granted there were some fun and quirky shops and we met some great people who worked in them but the constant harrasment of the homeless was just unrelenting . San Francisco use to be a "cool" place to spend a weekend . No longer the case .. WE will not return until the city makes some changes

Wander and look at all the murals, shops selling clothes from the 60's. Diidn't eat here so can't suggest.
