About
Since its founding in 2011, the International Art Museum has been a place of peaceful reflection and international understanding. When IAMA was first founded, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III had loaned the museum about 100 of his pieces. The works of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III have been recognized with numerous awards over the years. The collection in the museum has grown to include art from China, Algeria, Belgium, England, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, Norway, Russia, Scotland, and the United States. The works of traditional calligraphy, Western oil painting, modern ink brush landscapes, sculptures and portraits, all work together to showcase the diversity of human experience and perception. Admission is free.

An Amazing art museum I have ever seen
Nov 2019 • Friends
An Amazing art museum I have ever seen, it is incredible. I did go to some museums in New York, I thought that was the best place for me to see art. But I found I was wrong, IAMA is indeed the most incredible art Museum, especially their primary paintings! Highly recommended, it's free.

It was a nice and beautiful Saturday outside,I was hanging out with friends to the international art museum of America! All the arts there were so amazing, especially the one with sun flowers. It seemed real to me, just like how fresh flowers are in front of me. All the art bring me creative and artistic thoughts. Thanks!

A gem!

What a great museum it is! My children enjoyed it so much. Especially the beautiful paintings and the sculptures, they have not seen anything like them! There is such a variety of arts, including classical Western European and American paintings. We were amazed by how big it is inside. My family came home with such an unforgettable fond memory! Highly recommend it!

A Relaxing Day In The Museum
Nov 2019
I am glad I visited the International Art Museum of America. . There were lots of paintings of various animals. The brushwork for the lions and pandas were superb, unlike any paintings I have ever seen before.

Hidden gem on Market street
Apr 2019
I’m an artist and an art instructor. I can’t resist but to share with art lovers and tourists about this art museum that’s on my top 5 list! Honestly I wouldn’t expect to see such a precious collection of world class art in this neighborhood until I came across the International Art Museum of America.  The collection includes a great mixture of western and eastern paintings, sculptures, and calligraphy.

I was stunned by some artworks that broke the world’s records. I wasn’t a big fan of eastern art, but some brush paintings in this museum blew my mind away.  I’m puzzled by how these complex visual effects were achieved by seemingly speedy brush strokes.  Sunflowers is one of my favorite paintings. I’ve never seen any art in history that renders a nearly photorealistic effect on flower stems and weathered petals by the impressionist-like technique (I was told it’s “thickly-piled” technique invented by the artist)!

Another perk: the admission is free except the Treasure Room on the second floor. However, the sculptures exhibited in the Treasure Room on the second floor are unseen elsewhere and worth visiting!  One piece of sculpture renders mist effect without any artificial effect. You need to see to believe. I would recommend that you group up some friends or classmates to share the fee.

I can visit this museum again and again because certain artworks inspire me in different ways every time when I visit it. If you are seeking inspiration, this art museum is a must-see. I would mark this museum as one of the unique landmarks of San Francisco in my book.  Many thanks to the museum founder for making world-class art so accessible to the general public!

Western Paintings
Jan 2020
IAMA displays artworks of artists around the world. I especially enjoy the impressionism and realism artworks by Western artists. Some paintings a century ago allow you to see the daily lives of people back then.

I do not live in a city as large as San Francisco. This museum is a unique place to escape the hustle and bustle of San Francisco.

It is the most beautiful and precious art museum I have ever seen. The art works are made by Dorje Chang Buddha III, which are far beyond regular artists’ achievement. When you scrutinize the paintings, you can not only enjoy the outstanding beauty, more of enlightenment of universal ethics and philosophy. But I believe, you can realize more than I can!
