California is chockful of great museums, full of celebrated art from all continents and eras. Want to try a different museum, an outdoor one? Check out San Francisco’s Mission District Murals. If you love art or just want to partake of culture, highly recommended. Through several blocks (not just on and around the 24th and 25th, but also on the... More

Without the back ground it's difficult to make sense of the messages behind the murals. It's quite a shabby area, particularly 16th Misson.

Be sure to see the murals before it's too late. The neighborhood is fast becoming gentrified. I felt totally safe and was never bothered by anyone.

Love the art, love the colours, love the architecture, love the boutique shops, love the food. A perfect day to spend around walking in the city. Make sure you walk every street as some nice murals may just be hidden in some alley.

We dashed through here on our way out of town and couldn't do the tour, but we bought a map and got suggestions on best streets to see. It was all amazing and we want to do the tour next time we are in town. I wish we had put this higher on our to do list for the trip.

I wish I could make a tour that explains me all he history behind these murals around the 24th street, but it was closed. nevertheless, it is clear the social appeal of these murals, and how they reflect the gentrification of this neighbourhood. It seems that Precita Eyes organizes tours: I do recommend ! Very powerful!

Did this walk from 24th St along and up VAlencia St, stoppining at Historic Balmy Alley Murals; Wrap Around Women's Building Murals and ending at Clarion Alley (Breaking Art) . It was a real nice interesting stroll - some of the works were very good, some bad and others very bad indeed. Overall it was a good walk and experience.... More

The Mission district is ablaze with colorful folk art murals. They are spread throughout the neighborhood. You can just roam up and down the alley ways to explore on your own. But I would recommend that you first stop by the little visitor center at 2981 24th St. first and spend a few bucks to buy their map of specifically... More

The WPA Murals in the Old Post Office give the history of San Francisco. They are great paintings and include the Gold Rush, Pioneers, Chinese contributions and persecution, Ship building during WW2, Fishing and the Wharves, labor riots, and much more. Very interesting and well done.
