salsa dancing
Apr 2014 • Friends
We included this salsa dancing place as a stop in our party bus night. My first impression was that it was extremely overcrowded to the point that you didn't even have elbow room on the dance floor. When I tried to get to the bathroom located in the right rear of the place, I had to fight my way to it. There was also a lot of smoke that was seeping in from smokers that were smoking closely to the building. I think that they pack customers in purely to make money to the point that the paying customers ($15.00 cover charge) can't even get their money's worth and be able to dance. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place if you want to have a good time going salsa dancing.

Sketchy area, filthy, overpriced with awful in house food. Good music.

My Colombiana wanted to dance, it's Saturday night so I said "Let's see what SF has to offer".
I should have just ordered a pizza, bought some beers and turned up Pandora in the room.
A 20 minute drive (from Lombard & Divisidero) got us to the quasi industrial area. When we arrived, I thought "OK, it's quirky"....And expensive for what it is.
$30 got us in, another $10 plus tip found us holding a beer each. The music was great, to their credit , but with few areas to sit, a filthy in house kitchen, chicken tacos full of cartilage and bathrooms overflowing and unkempt, I was happy to leave.
We thought "this is a club, cabs will be rotating" Wrong. Its so far out of the way that the chances of a cab cruising past are pretty much nil. Call ahead and request one, we waited 45 mins for a taxi as the eclectic crowd dispersed.

Taste and Salsa.... Bachata too.... at Cafe Cocomo
Feb 2012 • Friends
If you come to our fair City, and are a Salsa or Bachata dancer, you will love this Friday night venue. The Food Trucks arrive, and set up in the Courtyard of Cafe Cocomo on Indiana Street. There is something new to experience every week, to taste and experience. That is why this dance venue is called "Taste". Inside you will find the chance for dance lessons before the Dance Party. You have a choice of Bachata or Salsa depending on the evenings choices. Live Bands perform every week, getting the best available. The party goes late into the evening. This is the "brain child" of Corey Raynor an awesome San Francisco dance instructor that inspires fun and success in any dancer. He is the one that inspired the love of Bachata in me! Hopefully, you will check out this awesome venue in San Francisco, when you come here, and are looking for something wonderful and entertaining to do with your evening in the City by the Bay!
