We had made the trip to the Cliff House for lunch and came across the Camera Obscura while taken in the views. It only costs a couple dollars but is well worth a quick visit to get some nice views of the bay.

I always seek out obscure things for us to see when we go on a vacation. And this is certainly a random thing but worth the entry fee. Even if you don't think it's as cool as we did (we're a bunch of nerds, you're standing at a fantastic view of the Pacific Ocean so there really shouldn't be anything... More

Novel option for looking at a great scenery. Not worth standing in line for, but a cool option if you are in the area and have the time

I grew up enjoying many of the fun places in the city, (SF) that sadly most have long sense have closed or just built over like the old playland by the sea just down the hill from this gem still standing and free still in a time when almost everything cost $$ Don't miss this small bit of our past.... Well worth the paltry $3 admission. We were alone the whole time we were inside. This obscura actually has rotating lenses, so the incredibly detailed image (reflection) we see on the screen is not only in motion as it moves from ocean to street to sidewalk to cliffs, but you can see vividly even the waves crashing. Although I've only... More

For only 3 dollars each its definitely worth a look. The 360 degree view of outside display in front of you on a "plate" in a dark room.

Not a very attractive building from the outside but prepare to be surprised. This is science at its most basic but the result is beautiful. This is a daytime activity.

This tiny little building really packs a punch! you see the surrounding beaches live in this amazing contraption! it was about 2 bucks per person, and worth every penny, probably could get 5 bucks per person, but they stay lower priced and that is cool!

A neat little stop while in the area. For $3 enjoy the magic of mirrors and sunlight reflecting a live picture onto a wooden concave table. Knowing the technology stems from 11th century theories and plans makes it pretty awe inspiring.
