As I was spending a couple of days in San Francisco downtown by myself, I was looking for a fun and pratical way to reaquaint myself with the city. The big challenge I had was the unreliable weather and last minute cancellations of other tours I had pre-booked. To be completely candid, I selected Big Bus tours just because they... More

We often do hop on, hop off in a city for the first day, if we don't rent a car. It was good for us to get the lay of the land, and see places we did not plan to stop. This was the typical experience with headphones and translation in multiple languages. Most of our tours had live guides,... More

Absolutely dreadful. Old vehicles, fast travel, little viewing from downstairs as windows covered in perforated vinyl. Admittedly the weather was wet windy and cold so upstairs not an option. Could not understand 'talk' as muffled sound system. Needed to change buses 4 times and wait up to half hour for next connection each time in rain. No shelters. Dreadful experience.

What should've been a fantastic experience started out not so well, as I'd made an error in booking dates, and the Alcatraz component couldn't be changed or recovered - which was not detailed in any conditions on Viator, which was where I had made my original booking. However, all was resolved promptly when meeting Big Bus owner John Terry, who... More

We did a private tour before and still ended up having to do the double-decker just bc there is no better way to see the city, not to mention it is cheaper. We chose Big Bus based on previous reviews and were not disappointed. We did the night tour and even though it was cold it was worth it. Peter... More

We loved going on this tour, took us all around and to many locations we were wanting to see. However, not all of our buses had tour guides, and one driver was horrible. Also some of the "audio tours" were not working. We loved that we got to see so many things but would possible try another company.

I bought a 2 day ticket. The first day was alright. Some headphone plug-ins didn't work so we were unprepared, sitting on top of the bus for the COLD on the Golden Gate Bridge and tunnel. This tour was recorded. The second day we got lucky with Kidnap Kenny driving the bus and Big Business Blake narrating and it was... More

The seats were a little bit uncomfortable and hard so I would bear that in mind for kids who don't like long rides or people who need to stretch their legs. We ended up staying on the bus for almost the whole tour in one go, to let my family see as much of SF as possible in the weekend... More

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
