A brick and mortar music shop - a disappearing breed. It lives up to its reputation. A female clerk was helpful directing me to which area to search for a specific musician. The male check out clerk was less than friendly, even though a sign...More

This place is amazing. There is not much more to say about it. My only piece of advice is to call ahead and have your record, item (they can tell you what they have) placed on hold in the front, otherwise you are liable to...More

Was at stop 13 of a Hop on Hop off bus tour we took. At the far end of Haight street close to where it begins, or ends, depending on where you're coming from. So worth going. Place is big and full of vinyls, cd's...More

You cannot go to San Fran and not experience Amoeba! A paradisiacal place you'll find hard to leave... We could easily have whiled away an entire day thumbing through the vinyl. Pure therapy. Left several dollars lighter, but with some absolute classic additions for our...More

This is a store that lives up to its hype. I had numerous people recommend this place to me when they heard I was going to San Fran, and all of them were right. The store is in an old bowling alley, so it is...More

I've spent literally DECADES prowling record stores all over the United States and in various cities in Europe, Canada and Australia. Amoeba is THE GREATEST! (I like this one better than their Berkeley branch; haven't been to the one in Hollywood) I used to work...More

The area surrounding the intersection of Haight and
Ashbury streets, “The Haight” still exudes vibes of
the 1960s counterculture as a haven for vintage
clothes, music, pop posters and body piercing shops.
While the Summer of Love ended decades ago,
Haight-Ashbury has turned into a melting pot of
hippies, hipsters, and professionals. Walking through
its streets can still feel like stepping back in time.
