Still okay to visit despite the construction
Sep 2021
Despite the industrial nature of Treasure Island and all the new construction and detours on the island, its still easy to navigate and catch some fantastic views.

Start your visit with dining at Aracely Cafe which has a lovely patio dining area on good weather days.

Followup your meal, was a quick walk along the perimeter trail of the island and soak in the great views. You'll be able to get great shots of everything from the East Bay, to Angel Island, to Alcatraz and the whole cityscape.

Under Heavy Construction - Best to Stay Away
Mar 2020
Treasure Island has a long history and is a man-made island that was built in 1936-37 for the International Exposition held in 1939. It was taken over by the U.S. Navy in the early 40’s until it was released back to the public in 1997. Since then the buildings have slowly been torn down or have been converted for use for businesses and residential housing.

The island was a great place to go to view San Francisco, the Bay Bridge and S.F. Bay and was a great spot for night-time photography of the city as well. However, as of March 2020, almost the entire island is under some sort of construction. Most of the island has detours and the old vantage points of San Francisco have been walled off or are inaccessible due to the construction. I have heard about massive development of the island with high-rise buildings and it looks like it’s true. The island has quite a movie filming history as well but nothing to visit. For the most part, I would recommend staying away from Treasure Island for now as it is a huge mess.

Great Place for Views
Jan 2020
Come here for a view of the Financial District. It seems to rise right out of the Bay. The island is slowly emerging as a new neighborhood, but it will take a while.

Great Views but . .
Apr 2019
We stopped here as part of the Hop on, Hop off bus night tour, specifically to take twilight photos of San Francisco. We stopped where there was a cafe, which was convenient and did have great views of the city. Apart from it being part of a tour, I don't think I would bother stopping here. Yes it does offer great views of the city but there are other places that offer excellent views too.

Deserted, dirty,scary.
Oct 2019
Do not waist your time. The island itself has nothing. do not be fooled by advertisement. We got there today 10/16 2019. The place was deserted like the ghost town. Wineries were all closed. Lots of places are blocked and filthy. All building on the island are old apartment very scary looking. There no civilization what so ever on the island. Two restaurant if you can call them that closed at 2 and 3 pm. No bathrooms available on the island. Quit a bit of scary people lurking around and signs to lock your car and hide your belongings posted in front of restaurants. One convenient store was still open at 4pm with very questionable appearance and bathroom out of order. One good thing only about the island it has a great view of the city. I am telling you do not waist your time. the place is ridiculous. Oh and by the way we paid 25 US dollars for little glass of beer and a shot glass of wine!!! Despicable!!!!

I am like their's concept to use old containers to set up restaurant venture. The view on San Francisco is amazing. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Price is affordable. The food is good and selection is limited, difficult to choose when you have some limitations like food allergies.
