A great tour, a wonderful tour guide, and an essential piece of San Francisco history. The tour I took started at Harvey Milk Plaza under the rainbow flag. Our guide was friendly and confident and knew her history of San Francisco and gay and lesbian culture. The tour was well planned, but very laid back. We could ask questions and... More

We met Kathy under the Rainbow Flag and spent the next couple of hours learning all about the history of the area. The tour is very easy and relaxed, meeting locals on the way which added to the overall experience. I came away both moved and proud. Highly recommended for everyone. Please do this tour

History, passion and walking. Ideal for all ages and backgrounds. As a cis-gender same sex attracted person - this was a great historical lesson for me and my communities history.

This fact-filled walking tour is ideal for seniors who have lived through the pertinent history, as well as for younger people desirous of understanding their “diversity” roots … also for those others who are simply curious. Kathy, the tour guide, has exhaustive knowledge of the subjects—history of the Castro as well as LGBTQ(etc.) history worldwide—and shares it in a way... More

We've been to the Castro 5 or 6 times but this tour took us places we had not been before and explained a lot of the history of the neighborhood and the GLBTQ History of the area. A great tour.

We did this tour back in March, but I needed to write a review: The guide (Kathy) knows a lot of interesting stuff about the Castro and she makes it worth strolling the neighbourhood.

Neighbourhood Profile
The Castro
A flourishing commercial area that acts as San Francisco's LGBT community center and cultural heart, the Castro is a neighbourhood welcome to everyone. As one of the first predominantly LGBT neighbourhoods in the United States and currently its largest, it remains one of the epicenters of activism in the nation. Grand theatres and glitzy shops now compete with bars and fashionable eateries for attention, drawing visitors from around the world to the bright rainbow flag acting as its beacon.
