My Partner and I had a wonderful walking tour with Kathy. We did The Castro: Historical Walking Tour of San Francisco's Gay & Lesbian District on January 13th , 2017. Kathy has a lot of deep knowledge about the Gay and Lesbian struggle and shared it with great personal touch from the period of Harvey Milk to the present day.... More

Thanks to Kathy who was my guide yesterday in Castro. A very rewarding visit and I learned a lot about the creation of this district and the sad history of Harvey Milk. The visit does make sense and helps to understand why we still have to stand up for our rights today everywhere in the world and surprisingly in the... More

Light hearted & entertaining delivery of an areas social history and continuing development on a gentle 2 hour stroll around the main village. As a straight 60ish white male a lot of new lifestyle 'information'. I found the civil rights history side of the tour the most interesting & coincidently the following evening met someone at a restaurant who knew... More

This tour really enriched my trip to San Francisco. A thoughtful, human, intelligent guide who has an intimate knowledge of the neighborhood, the history - it gives you a rich sense of place. And it's inspiring as hell. Really, don't miss this tour. Wonderful.

Firstly, Kathy was so lovely and knowledgeable. We booked for a monday morning in winter so had her all to ourselves and she really tailored her info to us. She told us lots of history but also great places to eat and drink, visit etc. we had so much fun talking with her. Couldn't recommend more highly.

An easy walk with a knowledgeable and friendly tour guide who lives in the Castro and is very involved in the community. Learned intimate details of different store fronts, homes, and businesses.

This walkabout tour is laid-back, informative, and fun. Kathy is very warm, knowledgeable, and a joy to be around. I would recommend this to anyone interested in learning a bit more about gay SF! Note: there is a lot of sexual content on the tour, so it may not be suitable for children.

Cathy is an amazing wealth of history and local knowledge on the Castro and some of the events and people which formed this unique neighborhood. In searching for things to do in San Francisco I was surprised at the lack of LGBT focused activities. Cathy fills this void well! As she walks you around the neighborhood you'll learn lots of... Neighbourhood Profile
The Castro
A flourishing commercial area that acts as San Francisco's LGBT community center and cultural heart, the Castro is a neighbourhood welcome to everyone. As one of the first predominantly LGBT neighbourhoods in the United States and currently its largest, it remains one of the epicenters of activism in the nation. Grand theatres and glitzy shops now compete with bars and fashionable eateries for attention, drawing visitors from around the world to the bright rainbow flag acting as its beacon.
