Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a wonderful park. Stunning views towards the bay and the city. Clean, quiet and lovely, and with wonderful, tall trees. If I'd brought food and coffee I would have stayed there all day.

Wouldn't say this merited a visit on its own, but worth taking in on walk of this area. However a very pleasant well tended hill park which is really is a large square in a period residential district east of Pacific Heights. From its highest point amongst the tall pines and manicured shrubbery are views of the Bay & Alcatraz Island. To underscore value the view, the white hunk of the Spreckels Mansion is opposite its northern flank. One block downhill from the NE corner is the Haas-Lilienthal House, a
preserved Victorian House open for tours on certain days.

LaFayette Park is a great hilltop park a full city block square. It has just been renovated, and it looks right in line with the very nice Pacific Heights neighborhood - safe, clean, and classy.

They have just installed a large new playground, the best I've seen complete with a stone water path so kids can get their feet wet. The day I visited there were about 50 parents and kids having a very enjoyable time.

The top of the park has a gorgeous view and a quiet and impressive Japanese style motif. As a matter of fact, when I was there, two elderly Japanese were doing T'ai Chi. Tastefully done.

LaFayette Park is a tribute to the San Francisco Park system.

Great on cool days, as there is very little tree cover in the playground. There are water fountains that have been turned off due to the drought. Otherwise, fun slides and the scenery is pretty. Good spot for picnics.

This is a rather ugly and neglected park.
We were quite shocked by the condition of the park and numerous homeless people in it.

I saw this park on the map the hotel gave me and had never heard of it, so I decided to check it out. What a fantastic park! I loved it! It seems that the neighbors primarily use this park, and they were friendly. But the houses surrounding the park, particularly on the north side and heading down Octavia St are absolutely beautiful! Talk about the 1%! It's worth checking out if you like small urban parks.

This is beautiful place to visit in the middle of San Fran. I can't get over the beauty of the parks all over this busy and packed city. Dog friendly place, clean public washrooms, big hills (that are loads of fun to roll down when you're four :-). The childrens' playground is great for ALL ages, and is safe, gated, fenced. It has slides, water area, climbing rocks and hills, bridges, and soft padded ground. Many hours were spent ere with my four year old nephew and 19 month old niece.

Pacific Heights in San Francisco boasts of two parks, Lafayette and Alta Plaza, which are walking distance to each other. Lafayette is a beautifully designed and landscaped park. It is visually very pleasing. The trees, plants, grounds, pathways and benches are integrated as a whole. The north side has a wonderful view of the bay, and Washington Street is lined with the most beautiful and graceful residential apartment buildings in the city. You will also find mansions of different architectural styles like the famed Beaux-Art white mansion of Danielle Steel. There are tennis courts and children's playground. But the whole place comes alive the best on a warm and sunny week-end. Families, friends, neighbors and visitors enjoy the sun and each other's company. Pacific Heights is a Tier-One neighborhood and it has a Tier-One park, Lafayette.

I live across the street from this park...it's like my backyard! Beautifully maintained and recently renovated this park is a lovely oasis in the heart of upscale Pacific Heights...a great place to unwind if you've been on a walking tour of the impressive homes and mansions that line the surrounding streets.
I'll see 'ya there!

I don't think I've ever seen restrooms this clean in a public park. The gated play area is pretty spectacular, too, if you have kids age 10 and under. The park over all seems very well kept. I must admit, after spending a few days in the city, I started to expect all public facilities to be marinating in the stench of human waste and overrun with vagrants. I ordinarily don't visit playgrounds while on vacation but I was outvoted by my group. This was a pleasant stop, but skip it if you don't have kids or a dog.
