Beautifully situated on San Francisco’s Washington Square. Possibly the darkest church I have ever been in. Open to visitors during the day. Not surprisingly, we found Mary (Pieta) inside.

There are many elaborately designed churches in San Francisco and this one is worth mentioning. I think it’s difficult to argue that, aside from Jesus, Peter and Paul are the two most influential people in the Catholic religion. I enjoyed seeing this really awesome looking...More

Whilst walking around the North Beach (Little Italy) area we came across Saints Peter and Paul Church a Roman Catholic Church directly across from Washington Square. This 1924 Italian Gothic styled cathedral with twin spires is where Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe took wedding photos....More

Beautiful huge, old church right across from Washington Square Park in North Beach. Lovely stained glass windows. Very peaceful inside with old fashioned confessionals and real candles for tributes. You are free to walk around inside & enjoy the spirituality there.

Little Italy area must see Church. Interior and outside lawn are great places to visit. Enjoy sense of relaxing and European feelings overall.

North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds
of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian
ristorante come together to create the charming
neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping
grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of
North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always
suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in
the city exude as much European charm and style.
