I have been here many times as l live on Saian. But I brought some friends who were visiting from off island. They enjoy the view and reading about the history there.

Great view. I wish there was information at the top about what happened: stories, locations, etc. Not really any markers or anything at the top.

The name speaks for itself. The absolute Horror for the indogenoous people. The power of propaganda causing mother's to jump to their death babies in their arms. The tragedy of this particular site coupled with the films they have of the jumps is chilling.

Although this site looks over a lovely stretch of ocean many thousands of people lost their lives here. There are truly no winners in war.

Good for an afternoon car rental to see this the Banzai Cliffs, Mt. Tapochao and Bird Island. Learned some history, paid my respects and got a great view!

Japanese memorials mark Banzai Cliff and Suicide Cliff, sites from the 1944 Battle of Saipan. Whole families committed ritual suicide onto the rocks, or into the boiling sea below, to avoid the shame of surrender to the Americans. It’s a gorgeous view, so the site...More

An easy car ride from the CNMI Memorial and Banzai Cliff. Scenically a visually impressive spot which suffers from overgrowth and so limits a full understanding of what happened during the retaking of Saipan. Still a visit to Saipan would not be complete without a...More

This site has numerous monuments, many in Japanese, several in English & Japanese. The view of the ocean is amazing. And heartbreaking at the same time when you learn the story. I was in awe of the beauty and power of the ocean, and moved...More
