This site is only open by appointment. It's a long drive from anyplace else that you want to be, so don't go driving up there assuming you'll get in. Having just visited Harpers Ferry, we wanted to round out our John Brown experience, and were...More

I had family that lived here at one time according to my genealogy. I enjoyed the tour and talking to guide and then I received a personal guide tour.

Visited with a bus tour from Cape May NJ. Totally worth the trip. Great restoration of the farm and Sprigg & his family were knowledgeable and gracious hosts. An important piece of American history.

Saw the sign and stopped on our way to Harper's Ferry. When we arrived we took a picture from the gate. We would have liked to go inside but realized that we needed to arrange a tour in advance.

Personal guided tours on request by a knowledgeable caretaker. Interesting stories were told and displays on every floor were nice (though needed a bit more curating). Privately owned historical spot. House is actually THE house where Brown and his compatriots stayed. A little loose in...More

Though it wasn't opem, it was cool to see where John Brown prepared to put his Harper's Ferry plan into action. A piece of history.

Even though this site turned out to be different than what I envisioned, it was good to see the actual place so I could picture it correctly. It gives you a real sense of the time period as it is still secluded. I wish one...More

This was off the beaten path and didn't look like very many people visited. It was well preserved and a great find for the Civil War buff. I only wish we could get to the big rock in the yard to read the bronze plate...More
