Tourist trap you can't turn away from

nothing earth shattering here. A lot of the same old, same old stuff in most places like this. If you like signs with clever sayings this might be a place for you to visit. We did buy a bag of candy that was very fresh.

An interesting stop as you drive South from Moab. This "home" is the work of a man determined to create something unique by burrowing in the redrock. Tours give a standardized patter about the place. Main attraction in the 'living room' is a stuffed burro that once did most of the rock hauling during construction. There is a gift shop... More

This looks like a neat place but it seemed like a quite a bit of money to pay for looking at a house built into the stone.

Pretty hokey stuff going on here. I don't know who this appeals to but I wish I got the time I took to check it out added back to my lifespan.

There is a lot to like about this place, but ultimately the negative aspects outweighed the positive for me. I'll start with what I liked. There is a feeling of creativity, campiness, and irreverence here that you don't see every day. I liked hearing about the history of the place and the diner that they used to run there. The... More

I am sorry that you felt that way about the zoo. Our animals are well taken care of. If they weren't eating, it was probably because they had already been fed that morning and weren't hungry. On any beautiful sunny day, you will find all of the animals up and greeting the visitors. You said so yourself that it was... More

we wanted to see the house, but they charge A LOT to get inside and you can't take pictures. if i can't take pictures, i can't show people how cool it might be! therefore, i can't recommend it to anyone! the gift shop was so-so. there is a zoo there. didn't go in. can't imagine that animals have to live... This is a fun place for a quick visit. In the end it is just a house in the rock. But it is pretty interesting. There is also a petting zoo here.

I won't try to tell you the full story of Hole N the Rock. A (possibly) crazy mining engineer decided to make a house by tunneling into a big hurking rock. Now it's a museum/shop/tourist attraction.. Maybe an example of how the desert makes you crazy, maybe an example of how people can be creative. Probably some of each. If... More

I drove by this place at least three times BEFORE I found the courage to stop. It was tacky with artifacts from every possible genre (and, I think I photographed them all).
