After being disappointed on the Virginia side of Assateague and Chincoteague we finally got to see our ponies! My eleven-year-old daughter was ecstatic. We had a military park pass which was free but normally I think you have to pay something like $20 to get into the state park. Once in there are several different places you can head but... More

The wild horses are fun to watch. We saw one steal oreo cookies out of a beach bag. Although it was pretty funny they should not be fed by the public. A few patrons of the park insist on petting them and usually get nipped. The different sea birds and sika deer are pretty interesting as well. The only bad... More

We are local on the Delmarva Peninsula so this is usually an off season activity for us. It would take us twice as long to get here on a summer weekend but if you are in the area than it is worth the short side trip drive. Now that we have gone so many times we usually stop in at... More

A great day viewing ponies, beach and a really interesting formation center. Watching the 20 min show on ponies was very interesting for all ages.

Excellent beaches all the way around. Without the distractions and crowds of the Boardwalk, but decent amenities, so you don't have to bring lots of food and drinks. It costs more than the federal park, which is even more pared down, but if you've got small children, the convenience of clean bathrooms, a store for all your needs, and fresh... More

The State Park offers a wonderful beach where wild ponies walk/run about. Perhaps the ocean is not your thing. On a warm summer's day one can find people fishing, crabbing paddling a boat or canoe in/on Sinepuxtent Bay.

Re-started an old family tradition of coming down right before Thanksgiving. First time visit for my 3 yr old and 1 yr old grandchildren. They loved seeing the many wild horses and enjoyed walking on the beach collecting shells.

We prefer the beaches of Assateague to OC because it's laid back. The park has hiking & biking trails, kayak & canoe access points & rentals. Go clamming in the bay, fishing is on the beach, in designated areas, as well as camping & bonfires. You may, also, drive your vehicles onto the beach, but check with the park office... More

This is an incredible treasure so close to the hustle and bustle of Ocean City. To really appreciate the full scope of the beauty, park at the welcome center/museum and take a long walk (Short Hike) across the bridge and to the beach. I guarantee that you won't be disappointed!

Excellent campground, super nice staff. Sites are nice, but if you are tenting please note that the pads are all asphalt and not crushed gravel like most other Maryland State Park Campgrounds. This was my mistake for not calling first and inquiring. The wind picked up this weekend incredibly, an old 6 man tent is not really designed for sustained... More
