Wonderful glimpse at the early residents of the area

This site has excellent interpretive exhibits (the video is very good) and easy access to several styles of pueblo architecture. A great place to visit.

We went in November, and it wasn't overly busy. We spoke with some locals, and in the peak times you can't park down in the valley - they have shuttle buses to take people down and up. Easy walking trails ranging from one hour and up. Pay $1 for a trail guide that has good historical information. Amazing historical significance.

Bandelier is a beautiful park worthy of 5 stars except for the staff At the visitor center. We stopped in before starting out and when we tried to get info on wh hikes to take in addition to the main archeological sites on the main loop , we were met with rudeness and a condescending attitude wh actually shocked us.... Here is your walk where Native Americans lived and see the homes, and with walks past these homes, where generations enjoyed the beauty of the earth.

This place is magical. It is rich in both cultural history and scenery with plenty of great hikes for all ages and all skill levels. Handicap friendly.

We went with two friends over Thanksgiving week and it was just wonderful. The cooler temperatures kept the crowds to a minimum and made for very nice walking. Climbing the 140' of ladders to the Alcove House was not as difficult as I thought, but even if you aren't interested in ladder-climbing, there are plenty of other walks to enjoy.... More

Enjoyed a late fall weekday here with no crowds and great weather. Spent a few minutes in the Ranger Station learning about the local history and Indian Pueblo culture. Then hit the trail and spent about an hour on an easy-to-medium difficulty trail. Bring your camera and a picnic lunch for a great half day experience. Updated facilities - newly... More

We've been to many parks in and cliff dwellings in the Southwest and Bandelier was not bad. Bandelier does not have as many cliff dwellings or structures as other places but is still worth the trip. There is an abundance of petroglyphs at the Long House along the main loop that most people walk right on by but if you... More

I went Bandelier for the first time recently. The main loop was somewhat a waste of time. You see one cave, you have seen them all. The falls hike was the best part. Would only go back for backcountry hiking.

Beautiful, humbling, easy hike through ruins that make you appreciate nature's bounty, as well as the enormous skills of the Natives. This place gave my family (two adults plus a six year old and a nine year old) the most magical Thanksgiving ever.
