The preteens wanted water access and this was a perfect spot. We could picnic, enjoy playing in the water, and do a little exploring. It was a hot day, but beautiful, and the canyon is gorgeous!

You cannot go to Big Bend without seeing this canyon. It is down right beautiful and a good place to get out of the sun and enjoy the river! I only wish I brought a kayak to see more of the canyon

After spending 8 days in 8 different national park lands, I enjoyed the Santa Elena canyon the most. I ventured back into the shadows of the canyon and was surprised by it's beauty. Highly recommend this walk.

Spring Break visit: little bit crowded. the view from the top of the trails was okay, but if you keep walking down towards the end. You will find the shades and rocks where you can relax and enjoy the views better.

I have been to several NPs. This is one of the best scenes. I am pleased to see this in Texas where it is quite hard to find a beautiful nature scene.

There is a relatively easy trail hike into the canyon. However, we had to cross over a small creek to get to the trail, so it is possible to get wet feet. Also there is a series of steps at the beginning of the trail, but after that, you can enjoy the views.

This was one of the highlights of the trails we did at Big Bend, but we were not prepared for the very uphill climb to get down into the canyon. It is completely doable, just be papered to possibly take a few stops up on the way to catch your breath, as the elevation and uphill climb had out entire... More

There is an improved trail that is along the US side of the Rio Grande River and is reasonably easy. It does have quite a few stairs, but there are places to rest along the way. Beautiful canyon views.

It is popular for a reason! Great hike with short vertical climb near the start. Echo chamber effect deeper in Canyon. Look upwards at the towering walls and take in the beautiful river views. Loved it.
