The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. We saw a variety of wildlife and learned about the area. It was beautiful, peaceful, and quiet.

We had an amazing excursion led by Jack. We did a 4-hour kayak tour and we learned so much about the area and the environment. It was so beautiful to see how clear and clean everything was. The knowledge Jack has of the area was amazing. We will definitely be back in fully recommend this to everybody.

We are a family of avid naturalists(and Florida locals) and decided to book the Everglades Photography Tour to do some birding and photography. Our tour guide, THE Brandon, was incredible! He was witty, charming, intelligent and entertaining in every way. He kept all of us engaged with his humor and knowledge of the Everglades without giving us information we already knew. We all learned a few new facts during our pole boat tour which was a true treat! We also happened to stay at the Trail Lakes Campground and visited Skunk Ape Headquarters and are overall very happy with our choice of companies. We can’t wait to come back during rainy season to see the change of scenery! (all photos posted are taken during our pole boat tour)

We took the sunset flatboat tour. Definitely recommend. Tray was our guide during our 2+ hour paddle down the Turner River. Tray handled the flat boat expertly, even during the very narrow mangrove tunnels at night. Tray was also a wealth of information about the area as well as the flora & fauna throughout the area. Tray made sure to point our birds, plants & alligators so we didn’t miss them.
We took the sunset tour which I highly recommend. Not only did we get to see the sun set, we were able to do some amazing star gazing. Plus paddling by alligators at night, is a experience you don’t want to miss.

We did the Pole-boat experience, which we really loved. We had already done the (highly recommended) Shark Valley bike tour in the morning, and were happy to just relax. Our pilot (Trey -- I hope we got the spelling right) was knowledgable and friendly, and was pretty good at steering a somewhat ungainly craft through tight corners. He was a good alligator and other-critter spotter.

Just got back from a pole boat safari tour with Brandon. It was the most amazing and unusual way to see the Everglades. Saw plenty of wildlife and delved deep into the mangrove swamps. Brandon is definitely king of the river.. spotted all the wildlife and taught us so much about the flora and fauna of the Everglades . Would highly recommend this experience.

I took a one hour pole boat tour which was the highlight of my trip to the Florida Everglades. I had already taken various air boat and swamp buggy tours with another company - but this boat tour was my favorite part of my trip. My pilot and guide was amazing. Brandon was very interesting and informative - but in an exciting way. It was more like taking a boat ride with a close friend than just listening to rehearsed facts. He may have been the most fun and interesting guide I've ever had anywhere. Most enjoyable part of the trip. I wish I had signed up for a two hour tour instead of just one hour. I highly recommend!

My niece and I really enjoyed our pole boat tour.
It was relaxing being slowly guided through an area of Big Cypress National Preserve. While our guide Nate told us the history of the Everglades, also telling us all about the local flora and fauna.
Fantastic experience! A great way to explore the Everglades & Big Cypress Preserve!!
They offer other types of tours too!

We did some amazing things in the Everglades, but this tour was the BEST.
On the way back as it was getting darker and darker, Patty B gave us his flashlight and let us look for alligators. SO COOL to see their glowing eyes skimming the water line. So memorable. I love nature and that was nature at its finest.
And yep, I'm a tree hugger and huge environmentalist, LOVED that it was a pole boat with NO motor. We only gathered memories and left no traces.
Nice job Patty B!!

You described a trip that had air boating as well as hiking and another boat ride. However, it doesn't seem to me that Everglades Adventure Tours, where the review is, offers this tour. What company did you go with? Thanks, Karen

Hi Karen,
Everglades Adventure Tours is where we booked the pole boat tour. They have "eco tours" with hiking, kayaking, canoeing, and paddleboards. In addition, they offer "safari tours" with an emphasis on photography and/or birding. Finally, they offer night tours. It's best to go on their web site to understand the differences.
The actual booking desk is located inside of a building labeled "Skunk Ape Research Center" (of all things). They will talk to you about what you would like to do, then recommend a very personalized way to accomplish it. See their web site at evergladesadventuretours
To my knowledge, there are no airboat rides offered there. You can find a ton of airboat companies in Everglades City, about ten minutes away (not to mention a bunch of other places).

I was visiting from Maryland and made a reservation so I could plan my days. It was nice to know when I was doing the pole boat tour so I could plan other things to do too. I would do it again in a heartbeat, what a great experience!

Hi, I'm worried about planning a visit/tour in July mainly due to the bugs and mosquitoes. Am I wise to consider avoiding the Everglades at this time of year?

We have more bugs in the summer however they come and go according to the rain and other conditions. If you would like to contact us ahead of your visit we are glad to offer a mosquito report.
