Experience the remote mountain ghost towns via miners' tracks over alpine passes of the Rocky Mountains. See the high-country splendor - beautiful meadows of blooming columbines and lupines, rushing mountain streams and waterfalls and abundant local wildlife. Explore the mountains the way locals do, guided by highly-trained local experts. Using sturdy off-road vehicles, we explore remote, well-preserved ghost towns. The once legendary Como, Tin Cup, Pitkin are on our route. Just had to stop and take pictures of this beautiful sight. It was a sunny day, so we took advantage of the weather.

The hike was not too challenging or to long. Lots of place to take a picture or just enjoy the view. Not too rocky or steep. Our dog loved the hike too great view of the lake.

This easy 4 mi out and back hike is a must-do when in Gunnison or the surrounding RV parks in the area. During the summer, go early morning or late afternoon due to the heat during the middle of the day. Minimal ups and downs on the trail and the rating of easy is spot on. Kids will find enjoyable and the views f the Pinnacles and especially the beautiful Blue Mesa are worth seeing.

The Pinnacles are a beautiful geologic formation located on Blue Mesa Reservoir and that makes for spectacular views, especially, imho, in the dead calm when reflections are mirror perfect. Unless you're the 1/1,000,000, the pullover and vista is all there is, as the Pinnacles are not easily accessed on land and would require high skills to climb/hike.

Located along the shore of the Blue Mesa reservoir, the pinnacles are bits of an eroded mountain. When we went, the trail was snowy but not icy so we did not need our micro-spikes. This is a very photogenic place and if you keep your camera at the ready, you might be treated to big game wildlife. We saw about 5 bucks and a large group of doe. There's a sign and a bench at the end of the trail with a bit of an explanation of the pinnacles but it was cold and windy when we were there so we didn't stick around long!
