NC Stage is an Asheville treasure. The setting is intimate allowing for close contact with the actors. The quality of acting is quite professional and better than you would expect from small city the size of Asheville. We just saw "All Is Calm," a play in words and song about the World War II Christmas truce in Flanders, which was... More

Found this place on Asheville event calendar while in Black Mountain for a few days and read the reviews here as a guide. We saw the Curvy Widow and it was fun and well performed. the place is a nice small venue where all the seats are good, and the person who gave it a bad review is wrong: Everything... More

This is a quaint little theatre on a side street. 125 seats. Saw Curvy Widow. Great show. Friendly staff. The playwright was in the lobby talking to everyone before the show and again after. Can't wait for the show to get to New York City.

$1 beers (we had one each) were the one redeeming quality of the Stage. The owners must address the smell. I left with av headache brought on by the smells. The author of the play came out and personally ask us to see her play about her life. The musical comedy was wonderfully entertaining and well written. The actors did... More

We visit Asheville every October and visiting the theater is one of our favorite stops. We have seen three productions and each was very well done. The theater is very small, but that's one thing we like about it. The most recent play we saw was GROUNDED. It was a one woman play that was very moving. The actress was... More

We've attended 10 productions over the past 6 years. Never disappointed! Profesional actors, many local. Intimate theatre...125 seats...tiered seating...cushioned seats...no bad seats...front row seats at stage floor level...snacks and beverages available...clean restrooms...parking garage next door (a MAJOR plus). Theatre is in the heart of downtown Asheville...MUCH shopping, eating, drinking opportunities...(Across the street from ZAMBRA tapas (5 star) restaurant). Friday evening... More

Superior. This was like watching and listening to a live Broaday musical. Reminded me of the dance troupe in Pippin" on Broadway almost fifty years ago.

Saw a play and really enjoyed it. Beverages are available in the lobby. New York and Chicago aren't any better in terms of small theaters. The troupe for the particular play we saw were great.

Brave New World - the Musical by the NC Stage Company was a top-of-the-line performance. We had looked for something on Tripadvisor, for our week in Asheville, and we found a gem. This repertory theater group put their hearts and talent into this unique rendition of the Aldous Huxley novel "Brave New World". Few props, small theater, and you are... More

If you choose your show carefully, you won't be disappointed. The acting is fantastic, and the space around the stage is also used, so you feel a part of the experience. At this theater they trust that their audience is intelligent. There is no snobby feel. Often there is a book display with literature on topics related to the show.... More
