Seeking a bit of culture on our mountain vacation we checked into shows at the North Carolina Stage. A professional theatre in downtown Asheville, it has been offering a variety of shows and plays for over 15 years. Having seen a Shakespeare play a few years ago, we decided to visit for a totally different style show - “Matt &... More

We went to opening night of "Matt and Ben," a quirky one-act play written by Mindy Kaling. The NC Stage is a small theater just off Walnut Street. There really aren't any bad seats. It's a comfortable place with a friendly vibe. Unfortunately, the play was just marginally entertaining. The actors were fine, the staging fine, but it just didn't... More

During my trip to Asheville, I saw that North Carolina Stage was having the show Souvenir. It was about Florence Foster Jenkins and her piano player, Cosmé McMoon. Having seen the Meryl Streep movie, I was hesitant about going to a show about Jenkins. But I am so glad I decided to buy a ticket. North Carolina Stage Company is... More

We come to Asheville several times a year, but had never been to a play there. This was a great evening of entertainment, and we will be back. The actors were outstanding and the staff made you feel at home. Don't miss it!

Saw Jeeves Intervenes last year and so enjoyed it we made sure to come see Jeeves in Bloom this year. We were not disappointed. Much of the same cast was back and the storyline kind of continued. This british style comedy was very well done.

Went with a friend to see "Jeeves in Bloom" last night. Have been feeling a little down since the election, and this was a great (if temporary) cure! We were transported back to 1930's England where P. G. Wodehouse's butler Jeeves magically popped in and plucked Bertie Wooster and his friends from the brink of disaster time and again! The... An intimate "black box" theater with comfortable seating and good sight lines from all sections. They have won national awards for excellence, employ SAG actors, and encourage new playwrights with their Catalyst series. Very creative set, lighting, and sound design. Even though you can be up close and personal with the action, you get lost in the magic that they're... More

NC Stage is an Asheville treasure. The setting is intimate allowing for close contact with the actors. The quality of acting is quite professional and better than you would expect from small city the size of Asheville. We just saw "All Is Calm," a play in words and song about the World War II Christmas truce in Flanders, which was... More

Found this place on Asheville event calendar while in Black Mountain for a few days and read the reviews here as a guide. We saw the Curvy Widow and it was fun and well performed. the place is a nice small venue where all the seats are good, and the person who gave it a bad review is wrong: Everything... More
