Great place to get out of the hub and take in the ocean breeze. Perfect for long walks, picnics, family outings, dog walking, bike riding etc.. This place does get busy come Summer but it's still a refreshing respite from inner city dwelling, parking is available but limited. There is a take out seafood cafe but it is pretty pricey.... Castle Island is great place to just chill and enjoy your surrounding! My family loves the place so much, each July we have "Family Fun Day" with the kids.. with plenty of activities.

My husband and I have found it since we moved into Boston and found it to be one of the best places to walk in the city. It is definitely a place that families, couples, and singles go to walk, jog, or just play. What's more, it is scenic in every season. . . . watching the jets fly over,... More

This is an excellent spot for a casual walk by Boston Harbor. Parking can be difficult on nice summer days, so beware. The fort is open for tours during the summers but you need to check the schedule. It is a nice stop for a history buff. There are excellent views of the harbor islands, boats coming and going in... Castle Island is one of Boston's best kept secrets. The locals love to go here to get away from the bustle of the city, get some fresh air, and take in a quick bite. If you are visiting Boston, don't miss this quick 5 minute drive into South Boston, enjoy the beautiful ocean views and fresh air while you walk... More

I was fortunate to have been able to visit Fort Independence on July 4th (Independence Day) when the US Navy sails OLD IRONSIDES there for her annual turnaround cruise and fires her canon. Even on days other than Independence Day it is a great scenic picnic area and you can usually tour the fort during daylight hours. Be sure to... More

My 9 year old insisted on Castle Island as it is part of the popular game Fallout, and I'm glad I caved to his persistance. This place was the close out of our 4 day weekend and a peaceful ending at that! We missed the tour as they are only available on Saturday/Sundays, but the grounds were still an enjoyable... More
