This was a really great trip. Take both the Georges Island and the Spectacle Island both have unique history. Great views of the city, a wonderfully peaceful place to walk, picnic, and the boat is so great.

Fort Warren is located on George's Island - This island is another indication of Boston's importance in the early history of this country. The island was used for agriculture until 1925 when the government confiscated it for coastal defense. During this time it was dramatically changed constructing a fort and accommodations for those assigned there. Dedicated in 1847 as Fort... More

This is a peaceful island with the remanents of a fort dating back to the civil war era. There is a little something here for history buffs as well as geologists. According to the parks guide, the island is only one of two existing drumlins in the world, which is kinda cool if you are into that sort of thing.... More

The BHC over to George's Island was spacious and informative (45 mins ). The fort and island were great , my only regret was buying 4 "Jumbo" hotdogs for $9 each at the food counter, i waited 35 mins for two limp hotdogs in a cold bread bun, so so disappointing. The hotdog was tasteless and certainly not worth the... More

George's Island is about a 30 min ferry ride from Long Wharf (by the NE Aquarium). The ferry leaves every hour and the last boat back from the island is at 6pm. The tickets were $18 for adults. There is one small cafe on the island which has hot and cold lunch options. It's carry in / carry out, so... More

What a fabulous place. Well worth the trip and money. Lots of areas to explore and fabulous views from the ramparts. Well maintained paths and walkways. Great interpretive signage and museum. Feisty seagulls will steal your food if you turn your back but that is part of the fun. Bring your own food. It is expensive there.

We used to come to George's Island when I was a young kid, and this was my first time visiting in over 30 years. The fort looks like they've renovated/opened up more of the areas, so there's some fresher air coming in there, and they have more activities going on there (concerts and such). We didn't take the tour, but... More

This is a no-trash island, so anything you take in you have to take out. There was very little to do, and very little shade to relax in. Swimming isn't allowed for reasons that weren't explained.

We went to this island from Boston Harbour where we parked our car. And then took a Ferry from there. As soon as we reached there there was a long line for food. We had to wait for more than half an hour. I did not like this place a lot however we could take any ferry from there to... More

Absolutely the top excursion we chose to do while in Boston. We never would have known if one of our local Boston friends hadn't mentioned it. The ferry ride out to the island was relaxing and beautiful. The island was amazing. Bring your walking shoes and give yourself some time. There is a lot to explore. The guided tour is... More
