Newbury St is the place to go for upscale boutique shopping. It's nice but expensive. Caters to the tourists and upper class.

In a small area you can hit a lot of fun stores--like an upscale mall on a street. Forever 21, Madewell, Urban Outfitters, etc. Saw groups of women friends shopping together.

While on vacation, we traveled to this area to see the Old South Church and the Boston Finish Line memorials. We were very pleased to find this Newbury Street district with great shopping and dining choices.

This was a great apartment, in the restaurant and shopping district of the city. Brace yourself for a walk up 3 flights, and a bit of a battle with the wifi to get it working, but you can't beat the location and the apartment was really clean and well kitted out.

This street is full of life, and many different stores. If you want the fast Boston experience, this is the place to come too. There is the Newbury Fine Arts and other fabulous unique shops and great food. There is alot of history in these old buildings as well. People are really nice as well, to be honest, I was... More

The roads are long and the streets are like a maze. Finding shops is difficult and getting out of the street is like transcending into a different world. The red bricks contrast the other areas of Boston which is why there's so many tourists here. It's very crowded and the shops are mediocare. Nothing special or authentic to Boston, however... More

Staying in Back Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
