We spent the day taking the ferry out to the main island, where there was swimming, hiking, and a fabulous jazz performance for free. The view of Boston from the island was spectacular. The narrrated ferry ride is also entertaining, including planes landing right over your head. Not a dull moment, and lots of fun.

Well, maybe it's not your own yacht or your own personal island, but taking a super cheap ride out to Boston's Harbor Islands on a tour boat makes you feel as though you do own the world! (my fav is Georges Island, with the real fort AND a ghost!)

Boston is full of History, so many things to do, many places to eat, the people are very friendly, it was a plan ahead because many places get crowded..

I love traveling to the Boston Harbor Islands every summer! My favorite island is Spectacle island where you can hike to the top of two separate peaks and get amazing 360 degree views of Boston and all surrounding areas. It's also fun to watch the planes going in and out of the airport. Georges island is great too if you're... More

We took our two grandsons to Sullivan's for supper and then roamed the island/fort. The gates were open and we had the opportunity to explore inside the fort. There were volunteers offering answers to our questions. I went there last spring as a chperone on a 3rd grade field trip - so interesting!.

CBS's "Sunday Morning" did a story about the Boston Harbor Islands, which made me want to visit the islands, all of which have interesting histories (hospitals, forts, homes of wealthy people, almshouses, prisons, etc). Then I finally moved to the Boston area 10 years ago and had my chance. When I lived in Hull, which is on a narrow peninsula... More

Having done the Freedom trail, a great way to see more of Boston is on the Harbor Islands too. We had a great guide who was extremely informative and very funny too. The whole trip is about 2 hours and well worth the money.

I was late arriving because of logistical issues (my lack of knowledge) but got there just as they were lining up to board. The guides were knowledgeable, kind and entertaining!
