Nice view of the river, crowded if there is an event (mostly summer like July 4). Not certain about after dark security, ask around in advance unless you are with a group. The same goes for all along the river - it’s by no means...More

A lovely riverside walk along the Charles River. On a nice sunny day, this part of Boston is well worth spending some time for a flat relaxing walk or cycle ride.

The path provides a nice leisurely walk along the river. Many people and activities going on. With the exception of road noise from the Sorrow, it is a great escape.

We walked along here on our way to Harvard. It’s a beautiful area with so much greenery. Definitely nice to do while in Boston.

Winding path along the river where you can take your mind off the city while still being surrounded by it. They way watching the water lowers your blood pressure. I don't know if that is a fact, but I always enjoy being by the water.

This stretches along the Boston side of the Charles River and comprises paths and green space with trees and views across the river to Cambridge. The paths are mixed use and bikes are supposed to give way ("yield" in the local parlance) to walkers but...More

Lovely place to spend either a sunny afternoon or late evening in watching the boats on the river or just people watching.

An absolute must do if you are in Boston for the 4th of July. We arrived an hour or so prior to sundown and found a great place on one side of a sidewalk for easy access in and out. It is extremely crowded but...More

The prime seating area in front of the stage is open and there is no cover from the sun. There are trees around the perimeter and towards the back of the performance area. You would be sacrificing view for comfort, but I... More

Bostonians take the Fourth of July serious and have been known to show up as early as 4:00 a.m. since they banned overnight camping. I believe the City now attempts to regulate this at 6:00 a.m. There is limited space and... More

I cannot give a specific answer because this is a very subjective question, which depends on what criteria are important for selecting the "best" spot. Typically the events at the hatch shell are extremely popular, drawing... More

You can park on streets parallel to newbury street or in the garage and then take footbridge to the esplanade. There is no parking there.
