This is one of the older neighborhoods in town and much of the old architecture has been preserved. So find a walking tour and wander around. It's not too big and is safe, in spite of a sketchy past. Full of Yuppies now.

This has long been one of the most interesting and hip areas in town. Full of historic buildings and very central, so it has become completely gentrified, Was not that way once, several decades ago when there was crime. But now, very cool.

We walked through the area on the way for ice cream. Beautiful old housing. Area was full of young people ( 25-35). Was told that it's expensive to live there but not nearly as much as the north side of the highway. Many restaurants that were over the top on design. Worth a walk around if you have a few extra hours. Stop at FoMu for ice cream...vegan.

The South End is a cutesy little area of Victorian row houses, great architecture, and music shops at every nook and cranny. My sister and I were able to get a lot of scenic photographs of the nature around us and really appreciate the city when it is quiet. Would recommend!

This is an interesting and very nice neighborhood. It's neat to contrast it with the North End and to compare the 2 neighborhoods.
