Overview
More
The San Diego Museum of Man is your museum! Join the hundreds of thousands of people each year who come to see its exhibits on beer, monsters, torture, race, human and primate evolution, and more. You can also experience one of most important ancient Egyptian collections in the United States, which includes authentic Egyptian mummies, an exceptionally rare child sarcophagus, and one of the world's few surviving examples of Nefertiti's cartouche. Also, for the first time in 80 years, we are now offering guided tours of the California Tower - one of San Diego's most iconic landmarks. Tower tour tickets are timed like theater tickets, so be sure to purchase tickets in advance to secure your desired date and time.

We went to this museum for the opening of the Post Secret exhibit. If you are not aware of Post Secret, it is a thing. A man several years ago invited people to send him postcards they made themselves upon which they revealed their secrets,...More

Did the cannibal, tower and regular museum tour. Great information, didn't know the World's fair of 1915 was in this location. Climbed 8 stories to see a great view of the park and part of the city skyline.

Visited with children and grandchildren. Nice museum with excellent family-friendly exhibits. Both our 10 year old and 14 year old grandsons found something that was of interest. As adults were were pleased to see some exhibits we had not seen before e.g. Beer-ology included the...More

I thought this would be a history of humans kind, but it’s not. First exhibit is how people lived with pets, the entire second floor is dedicated to race. There is also a small section for mummies. And a kids section for ghost stories. You...More

I saw the TripAdvisor reviews before I went and thought either it’d be a hit or a flop. It was such a hit! This museum is so well done, and just incredibly fascinating. Downstairs there is an exhibit about beer. It covers modern times as...More

It was educational, and interesting at some points. However, I have been to better museums. Somethings I felt didn’t belong in this museum.

The exhibits are housed in a building that combines elements of Spanish, Orthodox, Meso-American and Hindu architecture. The pseudo-architecture has nothing on the exhibits themselves. I have probably been to the best ethnographic and anthropology museums across the globe yet was not prepared for the...More

The ticket is pricey for what is offered - the exhibits are minimal and not as developed as most museums. However, the cannibal exhibit is the exception and redeemed the time spent. Its a shame that is a temporary exhibit - if you are going...More

We didn’t allow enough time for this excellent museum. We started with the climb to the tower and then wandered through the Egyptian mummy exhibit. The new exhibit on Cannibals was well done and is highly recommended

Hi--well good news and bad news. Museums are free to resident's on Tuesdays, but the cannibal exhibit is extra charge even on free days. Good luck!
